What are you supposed to say when someone says SUP

Because I feel stupid saying "not very much".

What the heck? What are people supposed to say to that? X_x

I dunno, it weirds me out too. I say that too, or I go, "hey"

I just say "nothing."
I'm probably wrong though, I think you're supposed to say something else.

just say 'nothing' or 'the sky'

'Sup' is an extremely condensed version of "Hey, what's up?", which is another way of saying "How are things going?". So either say "Sup" in return, or "Not much".

Don’t say anything if you’re unsure of how to respond; how the person reacts to your lack of a response will reveal who they are (i.e., whether they are worth knowing or not).

Though, “supposedly”, I’m not exactly the best person to listen to when dealing with the magic that is human interaction.

(Why must you give something in return when you never asked for something in the first place?)

People want to know how someone's life is going when they ask "what's up?", I think. I usually answer it with "nothing's up" or just plain "nothing".

I know what "sup" means. I just don't think my response sounds appropriate.

Maybe I should start saying "word G" and sound even sillier.

My friend says sup, and is into rap. But he's a decent guy. He is NOT going to go "Sup G, how's the shizzit goin' n***a?"

When someone says "sup" to me my first impulse is to say STFU! I don't really say that, but I think abbreviating "whats up?", which already is slang, into a one-syllable three letter lingoism is lazy to say the least. You hardly have to open your mouth or move a muscle to pronounce "sup". It's barely more advanced then grunting.

It can either be responded to as a greeting, “Hi, hello, morning, etc.” or an abbreviation of “What’s up?” or “How’s life” or anything along those lines... generally used as slang for “How are you feeling?” or “What are you doing?”

My brother (Which is NT to the max!) taught me to say "sup?" back. I don't understand it either, but apparently, it's what the "cool" people say.

No-one has ever said "sup" to me.

I would probably laugh or give them the 'what are you, a ret*d?' look.

I just say "nothing much." I always thought that's what you're supposed to say to reply to that.

"Oh, nowt."

If I'm out, I just say "all reet?" back.
