As far as PMing other members in the Bay Area I can think of one I could try, he and I PMed at the same time that you and I did about Dr.L.D., so it would not be without precedence for me to communicate that way with him. I can't think of any others at this time, but will try to keep it in mind. If you are comfortable doing so, then I don't see any harm in sending a PM to someone that they can choose to reply to or not. I will send a PM to the one individual tonight to reply if interested. As far as creeping someone out, I don't believe a polite invitation will do so. Anyway I'll get the PM done and shut off my computer since I could barely get up in time for work this morning after the long weekend, talk to you and wsmac tomorrow. Very Happy

The Blue Anchor Hammersmith tomorrow (15-May-2008) evening?

Is it on this Thursday? (29th?) Same place?

I'll have to take that as a "no" then, as I will have no internet access after 17:15 today.

(See away/back thread).

Hopefully there will be other meets I can get to.

It would be nice if there was a meet in the UK somewhere other than London. ie further north which more people can get to easier and cheaper.

Fair enough. Would Manchester or Birmingham be easier for people to get to?

I´d like to suggst a Nottingham meet up. It´s a great city and is right in the middle of the country so people could get there from all over. It´s also well connected with rail network.
There is a lot to do there - ice skating, theatre, sports events, shopping, museums etc. etc. so people would have a choice.

Just as an idea, what about Saturday 28th June ??

Would anyone be interested? Laughing

I would like to register my interest of possibly attending any meet based in Manchester, or preferably more towards Yorkshire.

York is a most beautiful city I'd love to meet there but it is a very long way from London where I live.

I´d be happy to go to Birmingham and would be prepared to investigate possiblities of stuff to do there too, if people would go?
What do people think about meeting up in the next few weeks? Maybe end of June, beginning of July?

I'd like to see a separate area started for Meet-Up Threads. As in, one of the topic branches on the main page. This board is monopolized by UK/London area meet-ups (which is great that you all are out doing stuff together). I'd like to see one for UK, one for maybe other areas in Europe, and some regional or major metro areas in the USA, Canada, and Australia. Not sure how many members we have representing South/Central America, Asia, or elsewhere...but it would be nice to have some separation there. Who do I contact about that? Alex? the Admin.?

That is a good idea. The only issue is that for me, any meetup in 2008 or 2009 would have to be in the U.S. because of money issues. Beginning in 2010, I can travel abroad.

You may be missing the point, here.

The thread title is just "Meet Up Thread". Others have posted here, suggesting other places.

So far as I'm aware, the London group was established before this thread started. London is a big place, with pretty good public transport, etc, and the group seems to work. I can't say why no other groups have managed to form. At a guess, I'd say that Londoners are just that little bit more willing to "take the risk".

In the UK, the NAS also organises such meet-up groups quite effectively. I regularly go to one.

If anyone elsewhere has a good way of getting such things under way, or has already done so, maybe they should post it on this thread.
