I don't think we have, an auditory processing disorder. I think that was a misunderstanding of Asperger's having a problem with working memory.

I have been tested, extentisively. When I was a child, that is what they thought. But in reality, I just cannot hold information long enough when functioning.

Aspie memory I believe works like this: very poor

Short term memorty: Below average to slightly above average

Long Term Memory, far above average.

Best,

Idaho Aspie

Yes, and my shyness.

But everything else, I'd rather keep.

I often wonder what it would be like to be 'normal'. Maybe it would suck too, just in a different way.

Getting my Aspergers cured is the last thing I will do on this earth.

It controls every minute and every aspect of my life, it is me.

Gimme the shot doc... I believe I would have excelled in school if I did have this "problem." Who can concentrate with all that noise in their head? Not me, tell you that much. For the same reason I can't read unless I'm super interested in something. Ugh...

I think that the more research we put into, well, ANY autistic spectrum disorder can't be that bad. The more we know, the better. I'm not sure if there is a cure, but if there is, I'd be willing to support it.

The only thing that comes to mind is that there is a software package that will allow an End User to donate CPU time to various scientific studies called BOINC. I'm not sure if any other aspie out there is aware of it, but there are some projects that involve health sciences (Rosetta@home comes to mind). I don't think that there's anything out there specifically for ASD's (at least none that I've heard of), but there's nothing stopping someone from getting one started later on (or an existing project to include ASD).
