What's an 'alpha state'? I get that sensation too. I know generally what things trigger it, so I can control it somewhat. Reading, looking at art, making art, writing. They trigger it. Also coffee.
I like different kinds of light, like the faint green that comes through my curtains at night, and the fuzziness on the TV screen.
I like being tucked up in bed, about to fall asleep. I am happy to be alive when I am about to sleep. |
The alpha state of mind topic
The alpha state is a state of hyper-focus but very relaxed. People doing Zen and yoga talk about it, but for them it is triggered by some yoga thing or humming. For me is a visual observation thing. when I was a kid I would stare at the teacher printing on the chalkboard and the room would be quiet and peaceful. I would sit there and stare at the teacher as she used the chalk, and I would enter the alpha state. Soon she would realize I was not busy and snap me out of it by pointing out I was lazy and had better get busy with 'seatwork'.
I am still trying to find other ways to enter it. I wish coffee would do it for me.

| Is alpha state another term for hyper focus? I have no control at all of when and whether I go into hyper focus. It happens by itself. |

The smell of my dogs
Watching someone's turn signal blink(anyone else notice that when there's a line of cars waiting to turn, the cars' signals almost never blink at the same rate as the other ones?)
The feel of picking at dry skin or the skin under my nails
The feel of pretty much any animal(other than humans), as long as they aren't filthy or something. Soft and fuzzy, smooth and scaley, whatever 
The smell outside just after it stops raining
The feel of a pillow on my face(and smelling my own smell on the pillow) |

I love the feel of my weighted blanket. I could lie under it for hours. I had been woken up at half seven in the morning, by my sister, who had brought me up a bacon sandwich. I had fallen straight back to sleep, and woke up just after midday with a sticky bacon sandwich stuck to my face. I didn't like the way that felt.
I would love my parents to buy me a bigger and heavier blanket, because the one i've got at the moment is half the size of me, so i can either have my head and upper body covered of my feet and upper body covered. I can, of course lie in a position that decreases my total length, but then i wake up in the morning with a bad backache.
I've often wondered whet it would feel like to be buried in a pit of lead fishing shots.
I made myself a hammock, and I will often lie in it for hours on end, with my subwoofer blasting. It's strange, because I don't like loud noises.
I would often tighten my watch strap, so it squeezes my wrist. I like that.
My favourite sensation is all of my mobile phone collection vibrating whilst i'm in my hammock.
Seccond to that is wearing my motorcycle jacket. It's way too bug, but its really heavy, and it feels really nice.
I do remember about a year ago, at my school, the lead roof was redone, and there was loads of lead left over, so me and my friends all loaded up our coats with lead.
I cant stand heat, unless it's hot water in the shower. I can't stand being near my pc, because it kicks out so much heat. I may as well have no windows in my room, because they're always open.
I love the feeling of cold, it was just bliss when i was in a boarding house at my school, with air-con. I would turn off the lights, switch the air con to 16c, if it wasn't already, and curl up under my weighted blanket.
I love the feeling of up/down g force. I think that it's called that, you know, that feeling you get when you drive really fast over a small bridge.
I also like the feeling of a pencil sharpener blade, lightly touching me.
And finally I like being on boats. I think it's the rocking that gets me really relaxed. |

one of my favorite things of being on the road is being in turn lanes  especially the huge city ones with 40 50 cars

I also like the feeling of sheets against my person in the morning, or sitting in a dark closet.

Hey, I get this too... Usually when listening to good music, movie-music (the classical music) is generally the best!
Maybe THAT's why I like music so much. And it last a little while (1-2 min.) after I'm done listening to the good music, but it wears off fast.

Yo.
Not extremely cold, mind you. I just prefer to be a little chilly. |
Oh, Reno NV in the summer, that would be logical. I heard that the folks in Phoenix AZ consider the 80's sweater weather. I too would prefer to be slightly cool, than slightly warm. You can add clothing if your cold, but it's usually not copacetic to remove garments beyond a certain point. |

Goodness, I wish I could move to Maine or Oregon.
And as to removing garments... Well, that's why you tattoo "Theodore Roosevelt Would Never Have Supported Obscenity Laws" on your chest and/or stomach.
