I went to Lyme Regis (hometown of the famous marine fossil hunter / paleontologist Mary Anning) and I met these guys - Chris Andrew (left) and Paddy Howe (right)

I spent about an hour and a half in their 'fossil workshop', where they prep and sell local fossils found on the beach, talking to them and Chris taught me a great deal about the vertebral anatomy of Icthyosaurs and Plesiosaurs / Pliosaurs, as well as the anatomy of their flippers and how they tend to be preserved. His knowledge was mindblowing and he gave me his email address so I can send him some photos of my other Plesiosaur fossils and he'll try to tell me more about them.

I bought this fossilized chunk of Plesiosaur limb bone (MONKEY paid half for me) in a different shop shortly before and they identified it as an upper limb bone.
They even had the other half of the same bone (just not the exact same individual creature) in the store room and they brought it out to show how the two fitted together.

Before I left I bought a Plesiosaur neck vertebra that I picked out (I asked them to test me earlier when they brought out a crate full of Icthyosaur vertebra with two Plesiosaur bits in there, and I managed to pick them out cheers . The one I bought was from this crate).

Showing the notch in the top that the spinal nerves ran though.

Showing the diagonal deformation due to tectonic changes during the fossilization process.

Showing the holes at the bottom of the vertebra that the blood vessels ran through. These will always come in pairs.

I can draw cartoony things alright but nothing with any amount of realism. I used to do lots of slightly abstract cartoons.

I really like doing headstands, and I'd rather watch the television through the mirror.

Thanks! Her name is Petrichor (that fresh, grassy smell you get after rain).

Petrichor - excellent, and interesting. I didn't know that. Cool

Said it before and I'll say it again - quite apart from the technical aspect, you have a knack of getting a great feeling of movement in your drawings that never seems stilted or forced.

Thank you! I know there's still a lot to improve on, since I've never explicitly learned the basics of drawing.
I guess the movement aspect has to do with the fluidity of hand and arm motions when drawing. I used to dance, and I play the piano and cello, so that might have influenced my drawing.

Very likely, I'd say.
