Kate, you put your age as 21 - what type of school are you going to?

I'm attending Austin Community college for a computer science major. It never ceases to be challenging and interesting, especially given my technological needs. I posted something about the strange college kids under college, and under the hardest thing about school.

Cool...

Good field, I've done Applied Science - Computing and been working in the computing field for 15 years now. I was also pretty good on computers (in some not-quite-so good ways) Very Happy for about 6 years prior to that.

There's a few (lot of) other people here who are pretty good on computers too - so if you need help with anything, feel free to ask.

When I joined this site around March of this year and now have made my return around the same time this year I did not fully know what to expect but, since being a member even if my posts have not been consistent I've found a great amount of resources, posts, people quite informative, friendly by all means..Well, in conclusion thanks for Wrongplanet..

It was exactly one year ago today that I made my first post on WP, in fact my first post on any forum.
When I joined there were 8230 members, membership has doubled to 16566 as of today. Wow!

I was on here nearly 2 years before I made my first post. I had actually forgotten I was a member.

You know I was so thrilled to find this site this morning..my two youngest daughters, who are 8 and almost 5 both have been diagnosed as Asperger's. I am so glad to find a place where I can talk to folks about the sorts of things that Aspies go through.

My 8 year old is desperate to make friends.....but has no "social camoflage" , no idea how to go about it, and no clue how to go about making friends. I would welcome any advice that I could give to her, to help her to r4each out to potential friends.....

My 5 year old is going to school in Sept. and I could really use some advice to help her in the same way.....i.e. reaching out to other school age children

I have an 11 year old daughter I suspect having Asperger Syndrome. This came up purely by accident in a conversation with a friend. For years I've been struggling with the things she does and why she doesn't get jokes or facial expressions. She hasn't been tested yet, but will be very soon. I have yet to find a site listing symptoms she doesn't have. I am very relieved to have found this site. If she is tested and is negative, the treatment is still the same, awareness of the difference. I cannot put in words the relief I feel right now knowing how I'll be able to help her.

This discussion makes me feel old. My life probably would've gone differently had I not found this place. That said, I miss a lot of the older members. All those awesome personalities, just not here anymore. Confused Don't know how long I'll stay here again, I've mostly gotten over everything discussed here. Anyways, thank you Alex blah blah blah...Awesome site. Razz

I'm a newbie, and I'm so glad this was started! Nearly all of the postings are relevant to me, which is, to say the least, a big change from day-to-day life. THANK YOU!
