actual close friends?
probably 3 or 4. 7, actually, if i count three more that i havent spoken to for a couple of months because of distance and workload on both ends.
i have loads of acquaintances though. i'm in a new place now though so all those close friends are actually quite far away. i need to make some new ones. took me about 2 years for the group already mentioned. dunno how long its gonna take this time.
the thing is, acquaintances are easy because they dont know you personally. they know the social you, not the real person behind. after you learn small talk it is really easy to make acquaintances. |

FRIENDS- over 40. I don't count.
TRUE FRIENDS- less than 1. I lie. A lot. simply to deal and get along with my friends. None know anything about ME, just what they see. I would say about 20 people consider me a close friend, cuz I let them tell me stuff I don't want to hear.
I am only ever honest to one friend And even so I don't tell them much at all ( the most being about the guy that I liked that liked me that my "friends" didn't like much, and only because she never met him. this person moved to another city and still talks to me. I don't know whether I actually enjoy their company (ie. probably not), but at least I can tell them something |

Until recently I would have said I have no close friends and a range of friends/ friendly acquaintances, but this has changed due to my recent discovery of AS. I now realize that a couple of the people I know, and spend the majority of my time with, I would actually class as good friends and think would see me in the same light.
Unfortunately it has also made me realize the amount of people I have been close to and then lost contact with simply because I didn't understand the situation (My norm is to be generally quite distant and let other people I'm with deal with the social interaction- not good if the person they're talking to wants to talk to me and I don't respond).

they come and go...
when i was in highschool there were 5 of us, we were close at the time but now 15 years later i hardly know them they have their own lives and we lost touch.
in college i had 1 friend then 2, i lost contact with all of them also
at work 4 years ago i had this one friend then we lost touch when i left the company...
right now i work freelance so friendwise...nada-0... social life consist of family members and pets |

| When you say close friends, meaning I discuss everything with them and see them frequently, I guess you can say I have two or three. However, I have many other friends in the area...many of them I see every week or every other week or so, and I have a couple of friends from graduate school who I am still in contact with on a regular basis. |
