I have a collection of over 800 DVD titles, but since I am a full-time student now, I will only buy my Simpsons and South Park box sets.

My obsession is Oldsmobile. It was expensive enough buying the Hotwheels and Johnny Lightning 1:46 models and the radio controlled Olds 442. It was bad enough clogging my computer with pictures and videos of the cars. T-shirts weren't cheap, either. But the real expensive part came with the purchase of a full-sized Oldsmobile--- I guess when you obsess on something enough, you'll find any means to afford/pursue/obtain it. I'll probably end up penniless with my love for this car, but I don't really care. Plenty of normal people blow everything they have on the things they love, whether they be children, trips to other countries or gym memberships. I have my thing and so I pursue it with great passion and liberty.
I believe that as long as I can pay my bills and put food on my table, then I should be fine pursuing my dream. When the day comes that I can no longer provide for myself due to any obsession of mine... THEN I'll admit it is a problem.

Is that the thing in your profile? It looks well worth the money to me and I'm not even remotely interested in cars.

Human rights being a strange, totally socially constructed (but often necessary) concept as it is, it's hard to define what comes under them. But I don't think this does. It's tough, but if you don't have the money then you'll probably have to settle for, say, reading a book about cars, if that was your interest, or reading about the place that you're interested in travelling to.

Records would definatly be my problem.. seems particularly pointless as my decks still aren't even set up in my house.. :s

Just can't help myself most of the time, I never want to pass things up as I know there's not much in the stores round here and It'll most likely be gone tomorrow. Card's And internet shopping actually made it worse though as I seem to attach even less value to the mone because I can't see it.

Also tend to end up in record stores (probably because there's little else to do in this town..) and often buy something because I have an unexplainable feeling that it'll be good, or just because it has one mix or guest vocals by an artist Ilike or something.. :s

That and wargames minis and such.. that comes and goes though. :s

Not an option. My interests can ONLY be satiated by travel. There is no other way - and I rely on it to avoid becoming a vegetable. If there was another way, I'd do it. But there isn't. No books - in fact what I'm doing will hopefully become a book, and the first of it's kind as well.

My obsessions certianly have gotten expensive before.

Buying nintendo memorabilia off the internet for one, costs a fortune to get it shipped, my poor credit card Sad
I'm also starting to get obsessed with my apperance, and that will cost the most money of all. Gyms, fake tans, hair dye, I dunno. Never had fake tan before but i'm interested in getting a light one.

I spent over $2000 in one year buying Games Workshop miniatures. That was on a part time wage for working there and after the 60% discount.
I had previously and afterwards spent at least another 1000 on them. Then my interest left and I got piles of the minis just sitting in my closet.

I have got well over a thousand bucks in collectible card games.

I have spent way too much on anime and manga. I don't even want to figure out how much it was. I have been able to wean myself off of buying them by finding libraries that have some mangas them and netflix is a life saver for anime.

I never was aware of how much I spent on my fixations when I was into them, but the realization hit soon after I began to loose interest. I have been pretty good lately and have been much more restrictive, but that is probably only due to necessity at having my wages cut.

my video game collection is insured for $25,000

I have 3 computers on in the house at all times. I have spent approx $70,000 on cars since I was an adult.

I have a few thousand dollars worth of Magic Cards.

What is the point of having a job and making money if you don't use it for the things you like?

i'm currently writing up the single releases for the end of feb and beginning of march for my fanzine. There are eight singles I want to buy on the 25th alone.

I have just written; 'Now, ‘Little Bit’ has already enjoyed one rather sexy vinyl release in ‘not quite a seven, not quite a twelve’ style, but you will buy this one too because it has a different b-side, and also because you can’t stop yourself.'

I'm terrible.

In retrospect, I've been lucky in a double-edged sword kind of way.

I don't have any sort of income and I rarely have any money to spend on obsessions, so it just kinda'... killed the concept of collecting stuff for me, while at the same time making obsessions become quickly boring.
