Hello folks,
I am a 23 yr. old male from Canada, self-diagnosed AS. I work full-time in the private sector as a Web Programmer and Computer Instructor. My other interests include music (playing guitar), reading, investing and digital photography. I think that online communities like these are a wonderful concept and I hope it will continue to grow in popularity.
I've become reasonably skilled at faking NT behaviour when required (mostly at the office and with clients in the classroom), but still prefer to avoid social situations.
I guess I'm at a point where I would want to understand NT social behaviour more but often don't have the energy or the appreciation for "small-talk". At the office, I can work and communicate with people very easily and have no problem carrying on a discussion about a business-related task, but put me in front of someone at a coffee shop and the words just don't come. Frankly, I'm often quite comfortable with silence. Unfortunately this does not create very memorable conversations!
I look forward to meeting some new people here, and would like to wish everyone an early Happy New Year!

I am a 22 year old female from the UK. I am a single mum to a well-behaved but pretty intensive nearly-3 year old. I am very new to the whole internet thing having only recently upgraded my computer. Discovering websites like this has been something of a revelation . Whilst I always new their was others with AS out there I have never come across them (well aside from my 8 year old cousin). Life doesn't seem quite so lonely at the mo. |

I'm from France. I will be 21 years old next April. I like literature, music, history, astronomy, chess, animals especially cats, baleen whales, and any kind of monkeys. I play the violin.
I don't know if I have AS or not. Let's say I share some of the characteristics and I like writing in this forum. |

Hi, I'm female, 25 years old and I live in Norway. I don't know for sure if I have AS, but I haven't found a description that sounds moore like me. Sometimes I feel that this someone who wrote about it must know me..But there is also some things I don't recognize in myself at all.
I am a single mum, has two boys, one of them live with me, and the other with his father.
I enjoy reading, computers, writing, care about the enviroment... Oh and the list could go on |

Hi. How are you (arrrrgh, what should I say); what have you been up to (mind blank); so what are you saying (cue tumbleweed).
So that's that out of the way. I'm Mark from London, 28 and currently learning a lot from you lot. Surprisingly, I've ended up working in a lab - a huge repositry of social extroverts.
Considering the introductions are over, when is the first international Aspie convention/party. On paper it could be an absolute nightmare, but I guess if we find the right topic.....who knows it could get quite animated. |

Hello, I'm 33, female, have 4 children (blended family), am married to the most wonderful man on Earth. I am a socialist, agnostic, and I'm a housewife and I don't know what I'll eventually go back to school for. Right now I'm doing my best to teach the children in my community how to be truly decent people. I'm also damn proud to be Aspergian (better word than "Aspie").
I always think, "What's it all about, Aspie?" when I see that word. Aspergian sounds like interplanetary or something. Very cool.

Hi all,
I'm merien, 21, and a college student majoring in Computer Science (seems to be a popular field for us). I love programming (problem-solving, knowing the intracacies of something so many people don't understand, and making computers do what I want them to do). I also do Tae Kwon Do and will hopefully reach blackbelt in the next year and a half or so. I love the Lord of the Rings (whence the screenname), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the Harry Potter series.
Also, I normally lurk on message boards, but this one has somehow attracted me enough to actually post (a lot, I'm a Tufted Titmouse!! ). |
