I really hate how judgemental so many men are about the whole thing. Until you've been pregnant unexpectedly and facing such a decision as whether to keep it or abort - as I have to admit I have - you really have absolutely no idea just how nightmareish it can be. Men should keep out of it and have no say. In the case of rape, only rape victims should have any say, and at a stretch other women facing unexpected pregnancy.

I also hate how they all don't care once the child is born - they don't care about circumstance or situation, only that there's one more unwanted person in an overpopulated world to suffer the consequences of their position.

I can't believe the laws being passed in NZ at the moment either, about tightening up abortion laws and not giving them so easily... do these 'right to life' idiots have any idea at all how agonising and terrifying and horrendous a decision it is? How it feels to have your body screaming at you "gonna be a Mummy!" and your mind screaming at you "No! No no no!"? That sometimes protection just ain't enough? I just get so worked up about it all, it makes me so angry, how dare they be so judgemental and f**k so many people's lives up with their self-righteous lunacy...

feminist Penny:
I am strongly pro-choice; I don't want anyone telling me what I can or can't do to my body.

However, I believe we all have a huge responsibility to make unwanted pregnancies a rare event. To me, an ideal world would be the freedom to choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy with no need to even exercise that freedom.

submissive Penny:
There is nothing more erotic that I can imagine than being impregnated against my will being forced to carry the resulting fetus to term. It is a recurring dream that wells up from God-knows-what neuro-chemical abyss.

I don't know...I'm too swayed by everyone's opinions to answer that... Razz

Maybe it's right and all of the conservatives are being too paranoid about it, or maybe if it is wrong and the people that are pro-abortion are going to hell Razz Who flippin knows?

I support being able to have an abortion. If the choice is between a life that the child's own parents believe will be painful, short or both, or simply that will not be well-taken-care of, and no sentience or sapience at all, ever, no realization, even, that one is alive and all of what comes with that, maybe the latter is best for everyone involved. Legislators or others trying to make across-the-board decisions can't know what's best for everyone, whether every unwanted child will be provided for or adopted by someone who does want them, so it's best to leave options open.

However, I do believe that people should be more careful in those cases where it's not an issue of birth defects, rape or similar circumstances. Whether that means waiting to have sex or simply employing various amounts of preventive measures, people should keep their pants on long enough to make an intelligent decision that will make their lives and those of others around them easier in the near future.

I am pro-choice. I think taking away someone's choice on what to do with their body is wrong.

I'm pro choice, But if I was having the baby I'd keep it it. Even if it did have a fatal defect, or some sort of disease. The exception is if it's only going to live for a month or under after birth.

It makes me really sad that Obama is pro-choice, because he's the one I want to vote for due to his plans that could potentially revolutionize the way autistic people live.

Same here. I'm no big McCain fan either, so my adherence to the Pro-life mindset is really going to put a bind on the person I want to lead our country. Too bad the candidate I wanted to stay in the race had backed down.

As our country was founded on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, I cannot in good conscience vote for someone whose policies translate into, "eh--two out of three ain't bad". Rolling Eyes

Pro choice 100%, although personally I wouldn't have an abortion unless there was a defect - I feel strongly about that as my mom was forced to carry my baby brother to term since abortion was illegal although the ultrasounds showed he didn't have a brain. It changed her. But I think that is each woman's choice to make, not the government.
On the other hand, figuring out birth control isn't hard. I try not to judge when I read that someone had 4 or 5 or "too many to count" abortions (Sherri Sheperd said that), but I do make a judgment on their intelligence. I can't imagine that the 97-99% accuracy of birth control would result in the same people using it correctly and getting pregnant multiple times.

I am pro-life, anti-abortionist under any circumstances. I totally agree with all of shopaholics posts. I am surprised at no mention of God and the Bible. I know that I am in a great minority here and cannot answer some questions like the soul created at conception and then dividing into twins later. I only know that God can bring you through anything, including an unplanned pregnancy. The mystery behind the failure of the contraceptives is that we believe we plan our children but I believe that God does. Every child is a blessing from God. I have an adopted cousin that is a product of rape of the father of the daughter. I'm not sure if he knows but he is loved and has a good life. I also have a friend that had a baby girl stillborn early at only 1 1/2 lbs. There was a nurse at the hospital that had lost a baby and her special job is to encourage mothers to dress, hold, love and say good-bye to their babies. God does not promise a perfect life but He promises to carry you through if you ask. Babies are not fetuses, parasites, lumps of tissue, ect... I do believe that most use abortion as birth control and the instances where a mother's life is in danger are very rare. I also cannot understand the many women that would never have an abortion but support others to have the choice. The reason that our country is deteriorating is due to abortions and putting God out of our schools and courthouses. I could go on and on, but I'm not........

Not all people have the same view of god as you do, thus stressing the importance of choices and options. I don't think god is telling people to 'have sex to get preagnent' or 'go rape that girl because I feel she should have a baby'

People make the situation as they happen.

I realize that everyone does not have my view of God but they should! Laughing Seriously, I feel that God can use bad for good and turn any situation around, including an unwanted pregnancy. Also, these bad things would not happen if the Ten Commandments (Thou shall not commit adultery!) were followed but God does give us free will because He loves us. We cannot control the bad things that happen in our lives but we can control our reaction to them.
