Almost nothing makes me cringe more than Televangelists. Don't these guys make you feel sick to your stomach? They claim that they believe in god and that they have seen visions of God. Also, they claim that they can heal you if you make donations of money to them. I've been seeing this "Peter Popoff" guy late at night on infomercials and he really makes me sick to my stomach. I just read on Wikipedia that he earns $500, 000 dollars a year from donations, and he drives a 2006 Porsche convertible worth $90,000.

Check out this link at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Popoff

Religion is one of the Most effective ways to get your hands on other peoples money Wink . Just look at the Mormons for example! They're filthy rich and now they're using all their wealth to gain (political)power. Besides, you know who that old saying goes: "A Fool and his money are soon parted" . Mesmerized or mesmerizing?

Most of the world's people are poor. What would a televangelist want with poor people? No money, no miracle.

It's the idea that the poor are more likely to be religious and are less likely to question absolute authority, so they'll give their money to an organization thinking God is going to bless them when in fact they are literally buying the people a horse ranch or a new porsche. They give money because some televangelists will say "if you donate $50 or more, God will give it back to you tenfold" and if they have a need- say they are mortally sick, their kids are doing drugs, or theyre about to lose their home, they'll give their money to the televangelists thinking God will rewrd their generosity. Now if every other viewer were to give 50 bucks or more, it's easy to see how some will get filthy rich. I think it's okay to give to organizations that will feed starving kids, but the fact is that there are so many people who are just really naive. But who's to blame here, the ignorant masses or the people who take advantage of them? I kind of liken it taking money from a helpless relative with dementia because they cant remember if they gave to you earlier or not.

Tell me about it... I am an avid churchgoer, and I can state for the record that mainstream churches are nothing like televangelists...

If you watch a televangelist and say that the entire Christian faith must be ****ed up based on that observation, it would be like watching Fox News and saying that all of America must be ****ed up like that...

America isn't ****ed up like that? Shocked

No, America is far more seriously messed up in more ways than you can imagine, and it is getting worse everyday, with every news report, with every legal action, with every bit of legislation it gets worse and it will keep getting worse until only the Left can tolerate it.

being left is great isn't it Smile

It's quite common for them to have bad hairstyles and equally bad suits. Why can't we have some televangelists who appeal to a wider audience (and I don't mean let's have fat televangelists). I'd like to see some real people for a change.

OK, apparently the real reason why Benny Hinn needs all that money is because the only spiritual experience he will ever have is downing his supply of Southern Comfort. When he runs out of that, there's always some Beam.

And another thing, I doubt very much that atheists could ever be televangelists; I doubt they could sink low enough to pervert themselves in the name of a mythical being to rip off the populace. Why you ask? Being an evangelist is akin to being a lawyer, used-car salesman or real-estate agent; you have to be a real bastard to succeed at those sort of things. I don't believe atheists are truly THAT evil.

Take that dude from the 700 club.... He's make a perfect Honest John flogging cars.

How do we know that televengelists are not secret atheists? If Barack Obama can be a secret Muslim, anything's possible.

(Obama is not a secret Muslim.)

What matters morality to a person without morality?

Absolutely nothing. The question is, is the person's amorality willful or pathological in nature?
