Hi-

I can't shave and I am wondering if I am alone. It hurts and makes me feel like I have compromised.

I have done it and it feels totally fake and it hurts.

Ive got a 1-word solution for ya: Nair Wink

My girlfriend Nair'd my chest hair about a month ago. It took the hair off real nice, but holy crap, it burnt like hell for three days afterward. To the OP: Try Noxzema shaving lotion for sensitive skin and a Fusion. Works like a charm.

I'm the absolute opposite - if I feel my clothing catch on the hair anywhere on my body, it distracts me to the point that I can't get anything done. I remove the hair, and my clothing bothers me less. Hurray, a quirk that's socially acceptable!

Of course, I'd run around naked and completely bald if I could, so perhaps not. :p

I don't shave anything.

I hate the feeling of bare armpits...there is no place for the sweat to go..

I am lucky that my legs are not really hairy to begin with.

The only thing i do is tweeze my moustache.. Wink

I'm one of those unlucky people who's allergic to all of the convinient creams that let you take the hair off without a razor. So because I'm obsessive about having smooth legs (don't ask why, I love the feel of it) I have a mini-ritual of shaving every two days. If you're not allergic, skip the whole shaving deal and try one of those creams the others have mentioned. If there's any burning sensation at all, remove it immediatly with cold water and you should be fine.

These are only standard tips that you could find anywhere, but if you are going to shave, be sure to shave towards the end of your shower in warmer water. If shaving cream isn't working for you, try your best conditioner. Also shop around to find the best razor that works for you. When you get out of the shower dry your legs gently and immediatly put on some sort of lotion to soothe the skin. Also don't forget that just because you can see the stubble on your legs, doesn't mean everyone else can. I had to learn this the hard way because I'd get upset and end up giving myself horrible razor burn because I was convinced everyone could see the stubble when no one else noticed or even cared. It took me a few years and only this year I'm starting to get the hang of this shaving thing. Rolling Eyes I only shave in the summer, shaving in the winter is kind of pointless unless you plan to wear a skirt.

For those who had problems with waxing, I recommend pure beeswax. You put it on hot-ish (though not as hot as the wax called "hot" is), then pull it off without any sort of strip. It is much gentler, and no bruising since you are not putting pressure on the strip, and I don't have a sensory issue with the heat.

Once you have wax, you don't go back.

That said, I also use Nair on my underarm area and my legs. I might need to switch, though as Nair makes my legs itch for 3 days straight....

Yeah others that hate shaving!!!!! Sorry in my family I'm the black sheep (for other reasons also) for not shaving. I hate shaving my legs (dont mind underarms so much though). I have done the creams/lotions before and like another replied, I have VERY thick, coarse, dark hair and THEY DON'T WORK!!! I tried an epilady when I was like 12 and OMG that was horrible (alright so they had first come out and mom was doing it, and the coil actually cut my leg more like ripped but hey)

As for waxing, well, I have tried that a couple times, however, I'm very sure I'm not doing something right. LOL. I am thinking of spending the money and having it done by a pro. However, in a perfect world where I won the lottery, I would soooooo pay to get the laser treatment. Had a friend who did that and said it was like having a mild sunburn for a few days. Takes 4-6 treatments and thats it, your hairless!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!! sign me up!!!!

On a side note, being 1/8th Indian (feathers kind) has its major drawback in that you are prone to having thick dark coarse hair (pretty much everywhere)!

I'm with the OP here. Shaving feels gross. It's a pain in the ass. It feels horrible and cold during, and after, my poor legs feel all naked and violated. Yuck. I'm furry.

Not sure if you'll read this, but even pros use different materials and different techniques. Considering how much you'll be paying for their labor and skill, it's worth finding out what they use ahead of time. Feel free to PM me if you decide to look into that option and want more 411.

I don't like to shave. I shave anyway because I like to be feminine and I don't like to have hairy legs. I shave like twice a month. Whenever I shave, I always accidentally cut myself. Sometime I use Nair in between shaving. Dawn
