Yes, you probably do. I got a pretty gnarly cut though. Now it's a pretty gnarly scar. _________________ "Life is clean when you got the freak gene."

I don't shave.
First, I get ingrown hairs if I use any type of hair removal.
Most important, why on earth should I?! The only reason American women shave their legs is social pressure. There's no hygenic reason for it. It's also one of the biggest double standards going. Why is it that society insists that hairy legs on a women are gross but has no problem with guys having hairy legs?
I frequently wear shorts in public, and I still get hit on by guys. _________________ Be who you are & say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Seuss

I do shave, but not my legs and because of social pressure. I just like to be able to see my own piercings...
I do agree that there is social pressure with shaving legs and other body parts and not just in America. |

Frankly, I refuse to shave because I see no reason to perform an act of self-mutilation simply for the visual pleasure of men I have no desire to attract. Like the one post-er who mentioned native American blood, I'm also Indian (thank God Columbus wasn't looking for the Virgin Islands!) and have a LOT of thick black hair with deep roots. Waxing my legs HURTS and leaves them bleeding. Creams don't dissolve the hair completely, and I have a mild allergic reaction. Shaving is a pain in the kiester and too time-consuming for me to bother. I'd be sasquatch first. As for the laser, I have a friend who does cosmetic surgery, and laser hair removal is one of the services she offers. I asked her about it, and she told me that even the best systems don't remove the hair permanently. You have to have at least 3 treatments the first year to get all 3 growth stages of the hair and about one treatment a year afterward to keep the hair gone.
Funny one for you one the subject though. My stepfather once offered me $50 to shave my legs. I asked him why he was looking at my legs. It was worth not negotiating the $50 just to see him that embarrassed...

Yours is a gnarly too?
Self-mutilation though? It's time consuming, but unless you cut yourself it doesn't hurt you... _________________ "Life is clean when you got the freak gene."

| I wax or shave whenever I wear shorts or skirts. I'd rather not show the world my fuzzy legs. Plus they feel better sans hair. |

Yes. Self-mutilation. For shaving, the cuts can scar, the razor burns leave nasty and painful rashes, and ingrown hairs are a frequent side effect that can cause infections that can (although rarely) become serious. Another side effect is nerve trauma that can leave the legs without sensation temporarily. Just think about those "gnarly scars." I have one on my ankle from my younger (less secure?) days. I cut myself almost to the bone when the razor slid sideways. The epilation creams are caustic. Electrolysis is actually a form of localized electrocution. Laser removal is a localized burn. Waxing is the intentional ripping of the hair out by its roots. It hurts.
I don't ask my husband to shave any part of his body to be attractive to me. I love beards. It's like wading through the rushes to get to the goodies... So, why should they require something potentially painful or even dangerous of us in order for us to be attractive to them? |

I said if you don't cut yourself. People don't always cut themselves while shaving. And you are supposed to you shaving cream or soap or something to avoid razor burn. _________________ "Life is clean when you got the freak gene."

I only shave under my arms.
I have used the hair remover lotions on my legs probably since I was 10. |

It is getting too expensive to seriously keep parts of my body hair free.
Why are they making disposable razor blades with four and five blades now and charging more money all the time? Two blades do enough. The razors don't last very long and how can they be resharpened. I can't even get all the little bits of hair out that gets stuck in between them.
Even electric razors become dull and the cutting blades and screen wear out and have to be replaced. The older the model of shaver, the more expensive and difficult it becomes to replace the blades and screen.
chemical hair remover is $5 -to $7 for a small bottle that will do me for about one week. I can't afford that.
Making my own sugar wax remover and reusing cloth strips is the cheapest. It just takes hours and it hurts.
I found out that laser hair remover just is not permanent and people have to keep getting treatments because it grows back. |

They also *Look* much better ohne hair as well . I wonder if sometime in the future, genetic engineering will completely eliminate body hair on women so all of this hair removal efforts will be unecessary. |
