Theist: If you believe in Jesus and Jesus doesn't exist, then you've won heaven, but if you don't believe and Jesus exists, you're roasting in hell.

Me: This is Pascal's Wager. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal%27s_Wager#Criticisms

Theist: Well, the Bible proves itself! (usually followed by an avalanche of Bible quotes)

Me: You DO realize that the Bible was written over many centuries by many people, and that it's not necessarily in chronological order?

Theist: Well, uh, the blue sky and sunrises are beautiful, therefore God exists!

Me: The sky isn't really blue, it just looks that way because of light refraction. The sun doesn't rise, the earth turns. Care for me to explain why the wind blows and why the sun shines?

Theist: You can't prove that God DOESN'T exist!

Me: Of course, it is logically impossible to prove a negative. That doesn't mean the corresponding positive must therefore be true.

Theist: You're going to HELL you evil satanic &*$#%!@%&&^$$^*(&%!!!!!!

Me: Well, you can't argue with illogic. See ya.

Theist: $%@#$#&^*(&^)($%$&$%@ demon possessed son of perdition!!!!....

Really now. Pascal used against theists. That's something.

Here is how pretty much all conversations online go:

Christian conversation with an Atheist -

C: Hello, my brother in Christ
A: WOAH THERE BUDDY! I don't believe in some walking zombie who "miraculously" rose from the dead.
C: I apologize. What do you believe in?
A: I don't believe in any of that crap.
C: Excuse me?
A: It is mind-draining and used to brainwash people. You've been mislead.
C: I don't think I have...
A: Religion is used to wage war. Priests rampantly rape children.
C: What does that have to do with me?
A: You're an idiot for believing such stupid things as fairies and angels.

I can come up with many different scenarios. I'm thinking of doing a Muslim v Christian debate.

Is that the one where the argument is "solved" by one person sawing off the other person's head? Rolling Eyes

What, with me and Ragtime debating with Khan_Sama and Stimsthiene? Be accurate.

Too much of the web is cluttered with ramblings from misotheists.

I *love* Jack Chick. The pamphlets may not bring anyone to Christ but they certainly bring a smile or laugh to my face! Very Happy

Also, I already started a thread where the "Proofs of God" from godlessgeeks.com were linked to. Those are sort of funny and along the same lines of what you are talking about. You probably already know about the site as it was in Dawkin's book "The God Delusion".

He is always good for a laugh. However, I do dislike him misrepresenting my religion and giving people the impression that Christians are inherently stupid.

Well, enough people do that already to the point where he is a drop of water in an ocean of idiocy.

Btw, here is Jack Chick's newest track!
http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1041/1041_01.asp?wpc=1041_01.asp&wpp=a

Doesn't everyone feel great with their religion where we can be all be gods?

Ouch. True enough, I suppose. But mainly because the most visible/outspoken Christians tend to be of the fundie variety, which does seem to correlate with lower intelligence. The majority of Christians are perfectly reasonable people, but also don't always make religion the dominant feature of every conversation, and so the availability heuristic sets in to create a perception of Christians that isn't entirely accurate.

Isn't that the same with all religions? The loudest are always heard, but the loudest tend to be the radicals.
