Your score: 25

I would've scored lower if "neutral" was an option.

I wonder if the whole "we can't tell emotions" thing just has to do with aversion to eye contact. Even if we are looking in the eyes, we're too busy feeling uncomfortable to notice what emotions they're giving off.

IMO.

23. I guessed at least 2/3 of it though.

29.

Some of them were so stupid though, I mean, half of them looked as if they were amused? And one of the pictures was so blurry that I doubt anyone could guess it, unless they already knew what it was.

Pft. Oh well, I apprently don't understand the difference between happy and neutral faces anyway, so meh.

Your score: 26
A typical score is in the range 22-30. If you scored over 30,
you are very accurate at decoding a person's facial expressions
around their eyes. A score under 22 indicates you find this quite difficult.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The correct answers for the ones you missed are:
2: upset
4: insisting
10: cautious
12: sceptical
17: doubtful
19: tentative
27: cautious
34: distrustful
35: nervous
36: suspicious

I guess I find it diff to read "negative" expressions. hmm. good test, though

But real life is harder than this test
1) you don't have several variants of answers and have to guess without such prompting.
2) you have less time, real face usually changes rather fast

28 here, despite quite high scores on Aspie tests.

It seems SBC may have a not-so-good-aspie test on his hands.

I did notice something, however, about my thought process. I did not tend to react "impulsively' to the image;
rather I caught myself doing quick 'calculations' : the eyes are open so far, they are looking at such-and-such an angle,
the eyebrows are lifted so high ... my mind was scanning, assembling, and figuring it out - no pun intended, the same way i recognize faces.

I wonder - if the image were shown for 1/4 second - how we might score differently than NT's.

Something else I find helpful and also do when I am reading about a charactor in a book when they describe their facial expressions....I try and make my face do what they are describing...like biting my lip, furrowing my brow. Sometimes making my face do the same thing will make me "feel" the emotion . (I'm sure it looks a bit odd to anyone watching me read and obviously you can't do that when you are talking to someone or they will think you are "mocking" them..but it helped on the test and when reading.

I do exactly the same thing! On the other hand, I scored 34 in this test, so in theory I should have no problem whatsoever in reading eyes.

At first when I started I got the first three right but then it started getting harder. I am pretty happy though with the score I got within the typical score range. There were pretty many that I had to guess on too and I got some of those right. It was a bit harder than I thought.

27, but I'll agree with others who said they wouldn't have done as well were it not multiple choice. I found myself using my multiple choice process-of-elimination skills from high school. On several of them, three of the emotions were similar enough that it was easy to choose the odd-one-out, especially when the three emotions were semi-negative and the photo seemed positive.

The worst part was that I kept getting distracted when I thought I recognized the eyes. For example, 34 looks like Claudia Schiffer, 7 looks like Keanu Reeves, and 3 looks like Natasha Henstridge.

I still think these tests are meaningless as far as aspies go. The problem in real life is the difficulty with eye contact. Here, you have plenty of time to analyze the eyes. In real life, I would never spend that much time studying someone's eyes (or even try to analyze them - I'd be afraid that they'd wonder what I was up to).
