Hell doesn't exist. Our entire modern society is based (or should be based) on scientific information and methods. If you can't test it, then why bother believing in it?

Eternal pain, or eternal happiness.

Hence, Heaven and Hell are one and the same.

I suppose hell is ALSO just a word used to sum up a bunch of interconnected ideas discursively. It's a word with a long history...

That was a f**** up three years... I was really happy to find out that people in college are a lot more accepting of those who don't fall into the category of "normal."

Have you ever seen that show "Mystery Science Theater 3000," where that guy and his two robotic buddies in the future are forced to watch bad movies?

I think that Hell is very much like that. It does have a slight heating problem, but every day you must watch a random bad movie in one of many Hellfire Theaters. If you're really well behaved, you might get seated with two demon buddies who will heal some of the pain by cracking jokes throughout the film... What? Why do demons have to watch these movies too, you ask? Remember, they don't completely rule Hell. They're actually there as punishment for betraying God, as well. The Devil, an enormous winged creature with three heads according to "Dante's Inferno," must watch three bad movies at a time. Talk about harsh.

I could be wrong here, but I have been told that the true name of Hell is "Biblical Theology Theater 3000 B.C."

Hell doesn't exist.

It's an interesting concept though, but the idea is completely human and conditional.

Then you'll understand that just because you can't prove that it's there, it doesn't mean that it actually isn't there. That would als o be an assumtion that needs proof. And perhaps we just don't have the tools to understand / measure it. Just like 1000 years ago people didn't have the tools to understand electricity so to speak.
Ans our societty isn't as much based on scientific information ans methods as we would often like to think, I believe that 90+% of the world's population still follows some form of religion, which usually don't come with the most "scientific" attitudes.

I can't help but agree with this. But as I just said, it would be just as wrong to just assume it doesn't excist as to assume that it does. But the cultural and religious luggage that comes alnog with it is mighty interesting

To be honest its used by many religions to force kids into being religious, child abuse practically, think about it, innocent minds of children which are molded by what is impacted on them, so telling a 5 year old that if he doesn't believe in god then he'll burn for eternity in damnation, then he's practically a religious person for life, fragile minds of children, thats all it takes, at my primary school many kids said that i'll burn in hell, I just laughed and said i'll meet you there then, they usually cried lol

Is that justice?

I don't believe hell exists, but I imagine it to be something along these lines: I imagine it like a floating consciousness. Heaven is total freedom, openness, acceptance, completely dependent on your state of mind. If you're a stubborn belligerent sob expecting it to be "this" way, you'll be locked in turmoil, your own prison or hell.

People with mental blocks go there, because they can not get over the hurdle, once they do(If they ever do), they are released.

You are your own judge and jury.

The above is a rather simplified example.

Quote:
So in hell people have their memory of their life on earth, they have their senses, they have a body, and they are in unbearable torment forever.

You're basing that on a parable, a story, not a true description or account.

As a fan of critical inquiry and philosophy:

1. Should be based? One cannot derive an "ought" from an "is". Furthermore, Modern society is based on primate-derived social constructions, as opposed to humanity, which is a subcategory of primate. A causal observer quickly notes the absence of scientific method -- even the hypothetical origin of the testing and observation process -- in the vast majority of human conduct. Try creating an H-sub-0 against which to test a friendship.

2. Math and geometry are untestable, they originate in definitions which are arbitrary; both are totally necessary to a scientific understanding of the universe. The universe is what it is whether we hypothesize, test, observe, conclude, or just eat, sleep, and die.

3. Believing is an aberration distinguished from knowing in that it does not correspond to the universe. Ergo, all belief is not only not worth the bother, but in truth a detriment to knowledge.

Hell would be like getting stuck in a room with people you couldn't stand with a TV playing inane and obnoxious shows non-stop and no way of ever getting out of the room or turning off the TV.
