What are the odds of this being another William Freund?

I hope I'm not being rude by repeating myself, but does anyone know if William Freund's father was shot and badly injured the previous Halloween? That is what he said in his last message on SomethingAwful.

I haven't heard anything, but I'm guessing it was fabricated as part of his excuse for wanting buckshot.

We can guess, but I want to know for sure. Unfortunately not all such reports are accessible on Google. Dennis Freund might not even know that his son said that.

The bullying alone makes it understandable. If they are shooting his close relatives also, no reasonable person can expect anything else.

look at you and me, seriously, hell, we listen to the world way to long after we burn out, or we wouldn't be here passed and even looking at our selves, we are sick of being misunderstood and feeling alone, we burn out and look for an escape making what we find our out, to be apart of something, or simply to understand our selves or those we care about and our environment, or to just belong. with who are doing the same are even sometimes more burnt out then we are (or those we care about), we know where we are at (or so we hope to think we are as compared to others), but to relate to the next step before we get there is a major head game to us at times, sometimes,. it helps us all to relate and guide us to where we know we need to go to next as best as we can see as a soul and a people, of what we approve of and what we don't, as one, or as an individual in a world gone wild, to try to relate our needs as a person to another in our lone existence, just for one thing, to be known and loved, or at least cared about or understood, and not forgotten,, to be remembered.

True, but it was also the one that showed things how they actually were, i.e. he didn't write coherently, and it was by far not just this site he posted on.

I don't believe william's father was shot last halloween or else we (neighbors) would have found out. I strongly believe he made that up, there are no gangs in aliso viejo, aliso viejo is too white and rich to have any gangs.

White Supremicist gangs can be found in those kinds of neighborhoods sometimes. Most of the time they keep a lower profile than gangs of other ethnic backgrounds too because many of them get fixated on hating whites that disagree with them more than anybody else.

After reading some other information about all this, it appears that Will Freund managed to act competent when he bought the gun, but creeped out clerks at all the local stores looking for the most powerful ammo. The shops ether outright refused to sell to him or tried to sell him bird shot, lying to him by telling him that it is every bit as good for home defense, when it is far less likely to kill someone when compared to any kind if buckshot or slugs. Since being weird generally isn't considered a reason to refuse to sell, having bought a gun recently myself, I cannot begin to describe how stupid he must have acted to be refused service. Coming across as weird (like I couldn't help doing) is okay as long as you clear the background check and any other store policies), but they have a duty not to sell to someone that seems dangerous, so he bought ammo over the internet where nobody could tell what he is like.

I'll have to look up State and Federal laws on buying ammo over the internet. I thought you needed a Federal Firearms License to do that. Will clearly didn't have one because that would require a BATF interview, and they probably would have ended up taking him for a psychiatric evaluation.

Yeah, cause everywhere rich and white people live, there arent ANY problems at all right... I guess will freund was an example of that the OC really isnt like they portray it on TV. (Not that I really thought it was, i had visited the area before watching it on tv..)

I used to live in Orange County and I still go there every month or two. And the TV image of the place is way off. There are lots of extremely nice places there, but there are also some parts that are just as bad as the worst parts of L.A. There are also more gangs there than anyone likes to publicly admit to. The residents of upscale residents had put too much faith in their gates community and the police to keep out the human trash (ie. gang members, drug dealers, burglars, etc), but apparently never gave a second thought to the possibility that a serious threat may live or have buisness there.

Couldn't have been convicted. The people who run the site didn't egg the lad on, and even if some members had, I don't think the people who run it could have got into trouble for it, which is the only way the site itself could have gotten into trouble over it.

Besides, this is the interwebs. Last place you get free speech and all that.

All the same, it is very stupid and dangerous to egg troubled people on. You don't know if they will take the words so much to heart that they will go out and kill people like this young man did.

You know i really really get mad about the situation and how people would not let him on wrongplanet to talk. I was one of the few trying to get him to get help. I am still angry about the situation, and should have more people let willfreund talk on wrongplanet, the situation could have been different i do beflieve now that i think about it. I am furious about it. I still miss him he was a very sick person.

This is more then about gun control. This is about a human being and he was trying to reach out for help, i do believe at heart. I guess just like it is. Some people will never be or get well. There are people that dont allow for that. This has upset me for many years.

I do remember the news story. He needed a lot more help than can be provided in a social setting. He sounded treatable but a legal intervention would likely have been required to do so. He is a prime example of changes being needed in mental health treatment, though I personally do not believe any changes should come based on this incident alone.
