But WP is an official site for AS/Autism. So by saying that, you're implying that you don't care about how it helps people and endorse a emotionally dysfunctional environment? What kind of mod are you, you are clearly incompetent and power hungry and deserve to be demoted for saying that.
You as a mod was the biggest mistake to WP Alex ever made. _________________ "Have a nice apocalypse" - Southland Tales |

You know what? Go ahead and just ban me already, I beg of you; because I won't shut up about this otherwise, you mods are a bunch incompetent moronic idiots who are s*** at their jobs, there, I said it. How's that for honesty without fear? People shouldn't fear authority figures intimidating them like a dictatorship. Unlike you mods who 'pretend' to care and really don't, I actually care about people here; but I feel I can't do anything to help them because you mods have your heads up their own asses and feel what I say is irrelevant or frowned on.
It is hopeless, I tried... and I'm sorry to those who I've failed, and for the fact it had to end this way with my membership here.
I will spam this place too oblivion, if I'm not banned within a few hours to give you incentive, so do it as soon as possible and save yourselves the hassle of cleaning it up. I'm serious about my threat too, so please just do it. _________________ "Have a nice apocalypse" - Southland Tales |

So, Nexus this is hard cause I was in agreement with your first post, but the last stuff is non-sense.
1) First of all, do you really think getting banned will enforce your point?
2) Why do you think you need to enforce your point by such an artificial method?
3) Do you notice that mod gave you a realistic, brutally honest response, just like you'd like things to be? _________________ . |

I feel getting banned is the only way to truly end my relationship with WP. Besides I want to express my brutally honest opinion in response. Also what my last post represents is frustration I've accumulated in being able to say nothing without fear of repercussions. I am aware that he spoke his mind, but I did the same too. I'm really sorry if you feel like I was being an idiot, and I guess I was rightfully so in that regards, I'm just angry that I feel my opinion is worthless and misunderstood here. _________________ "Have a nice apocalypse" - Southland Tales |

I should thank you Vexcalibur, you snapped me out of that rage.
Although I will leave willingly instead because I've said everything I needed to say, I wish you well everyone and goodbye. _________________ "Have a nice apocalypse" - Southland Tales |

Nexus, I think your conclusions are erroneous. They are along the lines of, "If you really cared, you would behave the way I think you should behave."
"If you really loved me, you would..." _________________

I want to say something. I think the mods here do a helluva good job. I wouldn't want to try it.
As far as I know, they're not getting paid, and no matter what they do, somebody's gonna get mad and start cussing at them.
I'm not saying I agree with them one hundred percent of the time, but I've never agreed with anybody one hundred percent of the time.
It would not be accurate to characterize me as a butt kisser.
My personal view is that Nexus has raised some valid points that should be considered, although ultimately I don't entirely agree with him. There are occasions where people get knocked down hard, where it's helpful to have somebody help you get up off the ground and maybe dust you off a little before you jump back into the struggle.
To my way of thinking, that's a big part of what the haven's about.
A lot of us go through our lives, thinking we're the only one who has these kinds of experiences. It often seems that way. Feeling utterly alone with the entire world against you works great in the action movies, where the good guy always wins despite the odds, but in real life it's not much of a morale booster for the troops.
Morale is extremely important for any kind of success.
So thanks, mods, without your efforts I wouldn't have a place to go to communicate with other people, and my life would be a whole lot worse than it is.

Hey... I'm sorry.... but I just had trouble figuring out what the connection was to wheelbarrows full of make-up.
And... an April Fool's Day joke is never malevolent, which is the word I think best describes the deception that the troll started with. It seemed obvious to me, from its final posts, that it had never had any intention other than to belittle any people who responded supportively to its earlier posts. I truly hope it failed completely.
PS. Thanks for the kind words. (And yes, we DO get paid! I was paid "one WP tee-shirt" for my first month. Sadly, nothing more for the subsequent six.)
PPS. And... I really don't have time to make this a "proper" answer to Nexus, because I've got to sleep before going back to work. However, there are several points he makes that I utterly disagree with.
WP is a support site. It is not an offshoot of Autism Speaks, training ACs to behave like NTs. It will not be subjecting them to bullying and shock treatment to force them to conform "normal" society's rules. It is not going to be a tool to "desensitize" (your word) members, using aggression, insult and negativity (all your words, and not out of context).
And, WP is not, so far as I am aware, an "official" site, whatever that means.
All of the above is my personal (and fully, happily sensitized) opinion. _________________ "Striking up conversations with strangers is an autistic person's version of extreme sports." Kamran Nazeer |

I think the mods are doing a good job.
Some people think they are not going far enough, some people say they are being a bit tough. You can't please everyone.
Rules are there for a reason, if you can't follow them and refuse to follow them because of your own view point, then I can't see why you shouldn't be banned.
I really hate reading posts where people are putting other people down, it brings down the tone of the place. _________________ Dirty Dancing (1987) - Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU8CmMJf8QA |

Er hum, just an explanation clarifying the meaning of a couple of words:
Fraud
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the broadest sense, a fraud is a deception made for personal gain. The specific legal definition varies by legal jurisdiction. Fraud is a crime, and is also a civil law violation. Many hoaxes are fraudulent, although those not made for personal gain are not technically frauds. Defrauding people of money is presumably the most common type of fraud, but there have also been many fraudulent "discoveries" in art, archaeology, and science.
Fiction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fiction is the telling of stories which are not real. More specifically, fiction is an imaginative form of narrative, one of the four basic rhetorical modes. Although the word fiction is derived from the Latin fingo, fingere, finxi, fictum, "to form, create", works of fiction need not be entirely imaginary and may include real people, places, and events. Fiction may be either written or oral. Although not all fiction is necessarily artistic, fiction is largely perceived as a form of art or entertainment. The ability to create fiction and other artistic works is considered to be a fundamental aspect of human culture, one of the defining characteristics of humanity.
So, I gather there was no monetary gain in what this fictional character did? |

There was gain. It was not monetary. What was gained was laugh at the expense of others, another variety of bullying. _________________

Under the strict definition of the word, I guess what this character did was not fraudulent. Fiction writers do tend to use a great deal of poetic license; they have to if they want their fiction to work. I don't know if there was any malicious intent done, because I haven't seen these posts; but as far as calling it fraudulent, and profiting from it in that sense, then obviously all they got was a laugh. I doubt you could buy a house on the income of a few laughs. |

Yes, obvious personal insults are not right, but telling someone to "Snap out of it!" and followed by given strong advice in a calm way can't be seen as offensive. |
What I'm getting from this is that Nexus thinks "tough love" may be the most appropriate, helpful, and honest response in some cases. I think that's true, especially in cases where a person can't get out of a "woe is me" mood. But I don't think tough love is usually a best "first response" as it's more likely to be interpreted as uncaring.
We certainly see tough love responses in other forums - I guess the question is whether or not it's appropriate in the Haven. |

I think what he's talking about most closely resembles something called "reality therapy," which is not the most appropriate choice for low self-esteem. _________________
