I'd have been shocked if I'd been picked anything other than last, frankly...

severe asthma, outdoor and indoor allergies, severe clumsiness, inability to socialize very well, and popular girls who were always team leaders because they sucked up to the teacher

I wasn't always picked last - sometimes I wasn't picked at all (and got to go read elsewhere)

Nobody ever wanted me on their team and I was always picked last. This was because I was unpopular; they thought I was weird and really unsociable, and also because I was probably the worst in the whole school at sports. I am un-coordinated and couldn't throw or catch a ball, couldn't hit a ball with a bat and they said I 'ran funny'. The team that got landed with me used to complain that I was making them lose. They thought I just wasn't trying, and that was one more thing they could pick on me for.
The one thing that I really dreaded was being asked by the teacher to pick a team; nobody would have wanted to be in my team, and I wouldn't have had the nerve to pick anyone. Fortunately it never happened.

I was usually one of 2 kids routinely picked last for any kind of gym-related event. I couldn't hit a baseball or catch it. I didn't throw well. I couldn't kick well, either. I suck at basketball. I could only do one thing really well--- run ( which was important when you had to escape bullies). So I did do well at races against other kids.

I was usually picked last for football (soccer) teams, despite the fact I often confounded
them by actually being not bad at playing it.Seems that ability didn't make up for being a
social misfit !

Yep.

Being overweight with no sports skills and being an aspie kinda makes people hate you in gym.

'Being an aspie' because I'm convinced that one guy hated my aspieness.

It was the gym teachers who assigned teams, so students didn't pick anyone.

Indeed I was. Mostly because I sucked at sports and everybody picked their best friends to be on their team first.

In elementary school we weren't allowed to pick teams. Then in middle school I had no friends and was picked last (after the unathetic kids). Then in high school people decided I was funny and semi-athletic and I got picked after 1/3 of the picks.

I was picked last only when they thought to pick me at all.

In junior school i was pretty lucky in that I was good at football, athletic, and the class clown/joker so I tended to picked 1st/2nd or 3rd on average, depending on whether the chooser and I hated eachother or not Razz

When i started senior school i went a bit more introverted, wasn't expecting the much larger environment, nobody really knew me and I didn't make much effort to get to know them, so I wasn't really picked that much - then again we hardly ever did team sports and when we did the teacher picked teams for us anyway Razz when I moved to a different senior school we played football at break but we never picked teams, just counted how many people there were and split in half, so never was an issue.

I think a lot of the reason people don't get chosen is because they aren't outgoing or well known - and so they get ignored, regardless of their actual skill in the sport. I was just as good at football in senior school as I was in junior, but I wasn't as well known or confident, and so I got picked less.
