I'm clearly more posh than my parents, and occasionally speak in accents/an accent that I am unaware of that has been described as American and Eastern European.

I used to get asked "where are you from?" and all that a lot also..

i'm from the lower peninsula of michigan, actually a relatively neutral accented area (like the "non-regional diction" used by news people)

I've gotten specifically asked if i was canadian... and also people who think i'm from elsewhere but can't place it,

interesting sidenote, i've always been decent at faking accents also.

i even got asked once if i was a yooper (person from the upper peninsula, they have their own dialect and accent and slang) I don't think i sound like a yooper

My accent is normal for England but not for the Scouse region I live in. I've never had it pointed out much, but I can tell it's a lot different from many of the people I am around.

I've an unplacable accent but came by it reasonably -- my father (who moved from Britain to Canada in his late teens) has a similar one.

It's strange because to some people (midwestern US) this accent is non-existant, but I occassionally run into somebody who can't understand me at all and blames it on my 'British' accent.

I do funny voices all the time, too. Sometimes I'll just start talking in some bizzarre accent, involuntarily, and have to drag myself out of it. This annoys or amuses people depending on the circumstances. I especially love to imitate the odd flat Kansas twang and perculiar cadance-of-speech of William S. Burroughs.

I mimic people's accents...not ou purpose, and have often been asked where I was from. I am from Texas, and people have thought I was from Canada.

It's sometimes beneficial to stir up some genes by going with foreigners, just for experimental purposes. But, when you fantasize about having a mate, is he/she foreign. That reminds me...I'm going to start a new thread.

I am from south London initially, then moved to Milton Keynes when I was two so I have a southern English accent... Except it is also northen English (my Dad and Grandparents were with me a lot as a baby), slightly American and occasionally Welsh or Scottish tones come in! I never quite understand which accent is my own and People are always asking where I am from! I think it must be an Aspie thing!

Just wondering if this is a side effect of AS or if Im just special.

I've been told several times that I have a weird and unique accent. Something else I noted is that I'm not very good at mimicing other accents. Sometimes I can do it, but usually it just ends up with me wandering through several accents in the course of a sentence which sounds really weird. Even when I am successful it doesn't last long. As soon as I stop there's no guarantee that I'll ever be able to do that accent again, or as well.

an accent or a lisp?

An accent. I dont have a lisp. A lisp is a lisp not an accent.

That's how I've heard my voice described. Does he speak slowly? I do and people mistake that to include being mentally slow.

It's good to know other people have this problem. I just assumed it was due to my serial identity crises as a teen.

At the moment I'm trying to enunciate more and speak fluently - at the end of the day your accent itself is a superficial issue. The speech problems are currently my biggest obstacle in completely overcoming my AS.

I think I have a fairly dull monotonous voice with an accent that is English but not clearly from any particular area (my housemate, also aspie, refers to this as the "aspie accent").

Recently I've been making some videos because of a Facebook group I'm involved in (The Battle Of Little Big Room) and put some effort into being somewhat more expressive for the videos. It still sounds weird hearing myself.

A lot of people say I have an American accent, despite the fact I'm from the North West of England. I can't stand how most people speak here though, they're constantly using bad English(i.e of instead of have and vica versa).
My voice also changes from being pretty stuttered to being really calm:
