Why do some people feel the need to say they are not racist? Everyone has some racist views. Sure, there's no need to be hateful about it but why this need to claim purity of thought? I am technically white with dark skin due to a dash of American Indian in my family tree. I have faced my fair share of racism because of my skin, but would never have the nerve to say I am not racist. My father is a German immigrant and admits to his racist views which were drilled into his head from youth, but he married my brown mother didn't he? My husband is Irish and German, as white as they come and admits to his racist views which were drilled into his head from youth, but he married me didn't he? I have never been able to identify with any race, but I have racist veiws about pretty much all of them. Some of them were handed down from my parents and some I developed on my own. However, it does not change the fact I value people based on their integrity. It does not matter to me that one of my children is brown like me and the other is blonde and fair. Love is blind but racism is a part of human nature.

well, I am not sure if this is always the case, perhaps the definition of racism might vary as just other definitions, might have something to do with it, or perhaps is due more to a group of culture rather than racism or perhaps both, the question is, if we all are racists, how and where did we learn that? and another question, what is racism?

Yes, you foul racist. Just because Obama did bad things to your grandpa doesn't mean all black people are evil. Obama is only half-black anyway! How do you know that the white half didn't do it?

Very Happy You make me laugh at least once a day. It is good to see someone so young be so clever.

AG, seems to be the most clever poster in the PPR forum, seems that no one can do better Smile

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group or racial groups.

Therefore...thinking, for example, Asians are generally smarter than other races is equally as racist as thinking Blacks are not. Just because you think something positive of a race, it is still a generalization and equates racism...meaning that race is somehow superior. We all do it to some extent. Some are just not willing to admit it.

I see, well, according to that definition, then very likely we all are racists somehow, although it is usually being thought as something negative rather than positive, or to be exact, something that creates or feeds stereotypes. The thing is that people seem to change the definition, like expanding them more from their original meaning, just look at the terms homophobia and mysoginy, those definitions have changed and expanded.

As for me, I think asian girls are hot, so, that would practically mean that I am racist and perhaps, even mysoginist too?

Well, I think that's true, I mean, few women would find a guy like that very interesting.

Right. It is natural. We cannot help it.

This is true. Somewhere along the line racism became equated to hate crime. There is no crime in thought.

Good or bad, a stereotype is a stereotype.

Another post reminded me of this.

I can't help thinking that after all the bad shit committed by various races that it's payback time, and the long oppressed planet will get its final revenge against world and Homo sapiens. 10000 years of bad karma is the meanest baddest mofo ever created. It's all about to go down, and the smart people know it. They're trying to "preserve our species", well tough sh**, payback is in order, THEN we'll see about preserving whatever's left, if anything. By the way, I'm human, so I'm no speciesist. Yes, other species do bad things too, but the humans win the gold medal in bad karma, sorry. Good luck fighting for your kind, you're going to be outwitted soon, and they're calculating as hell and will be able to power themselves with raw human flesh. There's millions of tons of steel and silicon about to open up a can of whoop-ass on the way, good luck with that. See you in hell. Hot coffee's on me.

I now agree with your post wholeheartedly

For one, it's perfectly fine to bash people's religious views so do so at will, and second I really lack racist views honestly, I don't think racism is really all that natural considering I've never been racist myself.

Really? Not one generalization in your head what-so-ever? Never? Never thought of Asians as smart? Never thought of Blacks as athletic? Nothing? Totally pure of racially based thoughts are you?

Um.. Surprising yes. I've actually never understood some of those generalizations, like for example black people like fried chicken, I've never met a frigging white person that wasn't a vegetarian that didn't like fried chicken.
