| Honestly, who cares about that terminology. Mostly what comes to mind for me is the Encyclopedia Dramatica entry on AS which exemplifies this. Unfortunately a lot of people with AS post a lot of stupid things on the internet and there is a natural backlash against it. A lot of it is simply malicious, but when it comes down to it its not really a name that I think is meant to be derogatory to everybody with AS, just what we refer to as the internet 'whiners' or whatnot. It mostly appeared when certain people frequent forums and make fools of themselves and then try to excuse it as 'oh, I have AS, please forgive me'. I find this hard to believe because here we have a forum for people with AS and other people interested in it and I don't see any of this idiotic behavior. So really I think 'ass-burgers syndrome' is something any real Aspie shouldn't care about, its just a stupid name. Also, I always thought it was 'as-per-jers' as well. |

Perhaps this is why I pronounce it as "Asperjers" Syndrome, as oppose to Aspergers, which immature people can use as an insult such as Ass burgers. _________________ Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle,

The problem is English ... When a word has a "P" or a "B" in it, they can be mis-pronounced. If English followed the same rules as other languages, there wouldn't be this problem...
Why do you think Kids can't talk properly? They go by ear only, it's all they know. As my mother from London, she would kill the "H" sound in any word. So, you can guess how I became confused with a new word . "hoax" - remember the "H" was eliminated. Then there was another word I heard from my dad "Vandal" I asked him what it meant, and he told me to look it up in the dictionary. Now, don't get me wrong, but isn't that a catch 22 scenario? To find the word in the dictionary, you need to know how it's spelt or what it begins. So with the English language being what it is. I was unsure which to start to look at first "V" or "F"
I hate people who kill English, then there are people who are not native to the language who can not adjust the word to fit what they have learnt.
English is a hard language to learn, because all people that speak the basic language MAKE it hard.
Now try to differentiate the "P" and "B" in Aspergers Not easy is it, yet other languages do this all the time, and there are probably not many words that are mixed such as "LIVE"
We use sentences in a way where one word changes it to an opposite.
Do you understand?
Do you not understand?
Both having different answers...
The one I had problems explaining was the term ...
Would you mind../Do you mind...
These two wanting opposite answers because of the word "mind"
Time to stop - lol |

I've started just using 'spectrum' to avoid it all. Besides, it's a classy word.
As in:
spectrum folk
spectrum people
spectrum kids
Me? I'm an upper-spectrum kitty. Meow. |

I live in the north and I see it brutalized every day too. I guess that's just one similarity all over the US.
and if 1 more person says Ass Burgers to me I'm gonna kill them. A couple of my "friends" said that all the time when I first told them that I have AS, even after I explained to them that it is asperger's. needless to say we are no longer friends. _________________ Dance like no one is watching. In my internet experience, people think of Asperger's and "Ass Burgers" to be two different things. One is a diagnoseable condition, the other is being a jerk and trying to convince people they have some sort of disorder so as to avoid blame. It doesn't work because there's so many real Aspies out there willing to point out the reality, but people still do it.
"Ass Burgers" is also known as "Internet Asperger's". |

That's very immature.
I would just ignore something like that, because a person who makes a comment like that against a neurological disorder is obviously very ignorant and not someone you would want to talk to anyway.
If they persist, then they are obviously childish and seeking to annoy you as well as being bigoted, so I would compliment them on their "sense of humor" and encourage them to come up with more "hilarious" jokes. (The quotes indicate sarcasm.)
