I've been re-outling Sekhmetka's story for the hundredth time, and while she was originally going to be a solitary fighter, I've now decided to give her a couple of sisters to join her in battle. Collectively they're called the Three Cobras in honor of their uraei (cobra head-rings).

At the time I drew this, I didn't have a clear idea of these characters' personalities, but currently I imagine Sekhy to be the intelligent leader, Kazingi to be strong but soft-hearted, and Neferwe as a hot-headed party chick (think Raphael and Michelangelo mixed together).

Love this! Should definitely be a cartoon!

I actually have considered making a cartoon series with these characters. It would be similar in spirit to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other superhero team cartoons.

I did a few pen sketches in the car today. This is the first of them. The other three are all of a different element and can be found in the Faeries folder of my deviantart gallery.

Click for Faeries folder!!

The world of Mesolithica is so named because its native humans are at a "Mesolithic" level of technological development; that is to say, while they have settled down and constructed permanent villages, they still subsist on hunting and gathering rather than agriculture. Nonetheless, many of the peoples have organized themselves into extensive chiefdoms with "civilized" trappings such as social stratification and sometimes even monumental architecture comparable with Earth's Gobekli Tepe.

As you might guess, Mesolithica's geography and to a lesser extent regional names were heavily influenced by Robert E. Howard's Hyborian Age (the setting of the Conan the Barbarian stories). Most of those regional names which weren't copied from him have mythological or historical sources (for instance, Aaru was the name of the Egyptian idea of heaven).

I love the map. I also enjoyed reading the explanation of the regions. It was very well done, thanks for sharing!

Self-portrait. I drew it based from a picture. Funny thing is, my head was tilted at a weird angle.

Sorry, but I had to redesign Sekhmetka for the thousandth time. This time I made her a professional huntress, with her inspiration being the gbeto (elephant huntresses) of the West African kingdom of Dahomey. For this reason, I changed her colors so that they would blend in better in the savanna.

By now I should start actually writing Sekhy's story instead of constantly revising her appearance and figuring out her story.

There's this thing at school that I like to use sometimes, and I did this the other day.
