Meh. Valrhona is way better chocolate anyway.

But seriously, while this is disappointing, I think most of the companies that sign on with Autism Speaks really do think they are doing a good thing. Autism Speaks wouldn't have the support it has if people really knew what it was about. Unfortunately, what speaks more than anything is money, and Autism Speaks has plenty of that....

Freakin' hell, I'm getting SO fed up of greedy bloodsucking corporations making it SO HARD to shop ethically! Half the cosmetic and domestic products you buy are tested on animals, clothes are made by what is virtually slave labour (if not ACTUAL slave labour), food is filled with hidden animal by-products which as a vegetarian I try to avoid...and when they try the "Look how awesome and charitable we are" stunt, I have to check that the charity is ethical too! Many medical charities also abuse animals, a bunch of charities that are against THAT do other bad stuff (cough PETA cough), and then there's propaganda "charities" like Autism Speaks!

Summary: AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

Just think of all the money you'll save.

Yeah, I know. I feel very sad every time I pass the Darth Bunnies in the stores right now.

Autism speaks isn't as good as it sounds. I a'm afraid I dont know all the details but their membership is all NT and they trhreatened to sue a 14 year old autistic girl for making a website speaking out against the organization. Looks like Lindt got fooled too.

Seriously?!?! What are they, $cientology or something?

On what grounds did they try and sue her, anyway? I'd have gone to court with them if I was her then I'd do a counter-suit for harassment or breach of free speech or something.

I think it was copyright infringement or something. I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same case, but the one I heard about was the girl who made a website with a name really similar to autism speaks and she was forced to shut it down.

So exactly like $cientology then.

She should have just changed the name of the site, they can't do her for copyright infringement if she just talks about Autism Speaks on the site as long as she puts "Autism Speaks is a trademark" or something similar.

Guess who wants to be a lawyer when they're older? :D

This is a dark day for autistic chocolate-lovers everywhere. I'll have to get behind a new brand or something.

By the way, hasn't Autism Speaks sued or threatened legal action against several autistics? I can't quite remember all the details.

Found info on the site being talked about before that Autism Speaks closed down - http://www.mindlessmommy.com/2008/01/au ... drome.html
