I used to drink at least a litre a day when I was living back in Ireland, but I can't drink it here in France because it doesn't taste the same

Have you ever tried Lättmjölk?

It's impossible to be addicted to milk. In order for you to be experiencing addiction, two things have to have occurred:
1. You built up a tolerance for it, so that you have to consume increasingly larger quantities of it in order to get the same desired feeling.
2. You experienced withdrawal symptoms after quitting.

If you haven't experienced both of those things, then you simply have a milk habit.

Well then... according to your definition of addiction, I AM addicted. I find myself drinking more and more milk at a time in order to feel satisfied. It's gotten to the point now where I drink so much that I feel full and then a little more.

You're only focusing on half of it (and frankly, I don't believe that you're getting high or intoxicated from drinking milk). - If you don't also go into DTs when you abstain from milk, then you're not addicted to it.

haha Im in the same boat as the TC. Although I switched it to skim milk a few years back to lower my fat intake. Now I drink about .75 gallons of skim every day. I dont think i could live without its calming effect or great taste...

Why do you assume you need to get high or intoxicated from something to be addicted? I fail to see your logic there. And I already said in the original post that I had withdrawal symptoms similar to the ones I get from cigarettes. You also fail to realize that there is more then 1 type of addiction. It's not always about physical addiction. Of course, I also discussed this in my original post which you apparently didn't read.

I looked at the wiki, but I'm not sure what Lättmjölk is. I don't know if the nuitritional labels are different here, I never checked. I have a feeling it's the grass they eat that's different. There's no grass greener than we have at home

Your desire for milk is purely psychological. That is a habit, not an addiction.

I think you might be wrong. I'm going to have to agree with the people who posted previous to you. I thought it was strange that my cravings for milk didn't go away until a good 20-45 minutes after drinking the milk. If it was purely psychological, that wouldn't make any sense.

Quite so. I eat one, sometimes two bowls of cornflakes full to the rim with milk, as well as drinking milk in school.

As a child i was also a huge milk drinker. It was usually always me who drank all the milk packages empty. Even today i like milk a lot. I could drink it like mad. My favorite drink is milk!

You are probably addicted to the vitamins inside the milk. When you are an AS you probably have a lack of Vitamin D. So if you would just take the vitamins in pills maybe your addiction go away. I used to eat a lot of cheese every day becuase my body needed Vitamin D. The human brain is really clever and if you are missing some vitamins your brain will get you hungry after food containing that kind of vitamin. 8)

lol I have a similar theory
and yes I always feel like I want to eat milk products but I'm trying not to eat too much because it can easly give me some breakouts

It is definitely possible to have food addictions. I don't drink cow's milk currently, but when I did I could easily drink a gallon a day if I didn't restrain myself...especially if it was vitamin D or 2% milk. I would:
-get on a vitamin D supplement as others have suggested (make sure it's the proper amount as too much is lethal-going outside in the sun gives you vit D too)
-make sure you are eating enough. Milk is so rich that it's almost like having a small meal or replacing food, so maybe eat a snack instead of drinking it.
-try replacing it with a different kind of milk. I'll admit that soy/rice/almond/oat/whatever milk doesn't taste as good (to me anyway), but it IS an alternative. Goat's milk is reeaally good, but it's just as high calorie and fat I believe, and more expensive.

i have that too.
i probably drink much more milk than i should.
i drink it with just about every meal. & with snacks. & just when i'm thirsty.
2 gallons of milk only really only lasts me about a few days.
Although when i'm eating a big bag of Tim's Cascade Style Jalapeno Chips, i can probably go through in excess of a gallon a day, because they're my favorite snack & really good with milk :) .
I should probably try to drink more water instead. I'm concerned drinking so much milk might be having adverse effects on my health. Like it's fat/cholesterol content.

Wow, I can't believe all the replies. Anyone who knows me knows how much I like milk. I used to think I was addicted to it. It's all I would drink, 2% milk, half a litre at a time. I've since kicked the habit and only drink water now. Lost a lot of weight by cutting milk calories out of my diet.
