I'm glad all worked out, though that would make me nervous too!
I also think that would be a great idea to introduce him to your local police! I would think they would be happy for you all to do that. |

| Hopefully the phone will help distract him. Sorry to hear it's been so hard for him! For my daughter, senior in high school, so much older...but her music on her phone wearing her earbuds at school has been an enormous help. She always uses them on the bus and when "working" at school. She... |

| So sorry your son is going through this. My daughter developed extreme anxiety that I believe started after a reaction to a medication (Clindamycin). I posted about it a few months ago. She was always slightly anxious, but after the med and reaction (severe vomiting and gastritis related to the med)... |

| Yes, what you're describing sounds familiar to me. My oldest, 20 yrs., is diagnosed on the spectrum and has anxiety and we have dealt with similar "schedules" of hers. I am not for sure if the reasons for it are autism or anxiety, but I'm guessing a little of both. She is lessening with it... |

| I'm so sorry about the other kids being mean. That is hard. This mean stuff starts so early and is so wrong. Does the teacher know this is going on? Of course, she may not be the most responsive based on what you said about her before. I would talk with the school counselor, too about this. And then ... |

| I'm not sure what I would have told her at 5. Probably just keep it simple. But I think by 7 or 8, I would have for sure told her. My daughter had an IEP for a learning disability in math and fine motor/visual spatial difficulties. So she saw an OT at school and had a different teacher for math. So ... |

| Also, you could get a 2nd opinion if you are really questioning the diagnosis. I know I would have been shocked if they gave my daughter an Asperger's diagnosis at that age. But looking back, it all makes sense now, to her and me. I now wish we would have known at that age. And she could have really... |

| My 20 year old daughter has Asperger's and was a bit similar to your daughter at that age. She was just diagnosed 2 years ago, but had other diagnoses since she was 6. She also wanted to be social, but had the wrong approach at times. She also walked in circles while talking/ singing to herself sinc... |

| I agree, pets can be very comforting!! If you check with your local no kill animal shelter, a lot of times they can help match you up with a suitable dog that matches your needs. Sometimes they will have 1 or 2 year old dogs or older available and can let you know their personality and if they like ... |

Glad to hear the psychiatrist took some time to really understand what has been going on. Hopefully this med. will work well and help her feel better! Take care! |

| Gosh, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry your family is going through all of this. I don't have any words of advice... just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you and your daughter and sure hope the psychiatrist's appt. is helpful this time and they can figure out some way to really help your daughter. |

She does not like regular talk therapy and the psychiatrist thought this would work better. Do you have any other suggestions or thoughts?? I am going to see if she will go t... |

Hope the doctor can get the medication back on track for her. Sounds like things were really good for awhile. Really glad she was able ... |

| I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry that she and your family are going through all of this. It sounds so very hard. It's so, so hard to watch your kids struggle and it must feel awful to her, too. Both of my girls deal with pretty bad anxiety and some depression that comes along with it. We have ... |
