Autistic people do not have emotions as deeply as people not on the autism spectrum.
Read that, think about it for a couple of minutes, and then write something to support it or refute it. |

| I think part of the reason I've enjoyed some success is learning a certain amount of elasticity in my responses to my perception of slights committed against me. I have to work against my instincts and assume that people are inherently good, not trying to hurt me. That doesn't make me completely nai... |

| How many of you have what could be considered pretty normal social lives? Anybody? I am 42 now. I think I was 35 when I was diagnosed. Life before that was completely different. It's much better now that I know and can adapt. I'm only now starting to build friendships that have sticking power. Part... |

| Hi Guys. I hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries, but I thought you all would be the best people to ask. My son just turned two and just got his ASD diagnosis (PPD-NOS as of now, but expected to change as he gets closer to 3). Of course I've got a billion questions, but I wanted to start with som... |

If you don't like the thread, there are plenty of other threads that may interest you. Just don't poop on this one for the rest of us, please.
I stated in a previous response precisely why this is relevant to my own autistic experience. |

| I learned a couple of days ago that Die Antwoord was coming to my town. It would sound weird to most people but here it will make sense to some.... I got stuck in near shutdown anxiety over ordering the tickets. An NT friend who has a lot of experience working with ASD people knew what I was dealing... |

| I've reached a senior level in my software industry career where it's expected that I'll have additional social responsibilities, like public speaking engagements and coaching others. I seem to be able to get away with it but it does come with a cost for me soon after. |

| I've only had a couple of meals of Soylent, thanks to a friend who had quite a bit of the stuff and was willing to help with my curiosity. If you're curious about the taste and texture, I found it to be rather like a diet shake in texture. The flavor wasn't awful, but would best be described as &quo... |

It's really nice if you mix them up.
Especially some kind of pungent fruit + mint.
I'm particularly fond of any kind of citrus + mint, or grape + mint. Last night I had a 3-way mix of peach, gum, and mint that was very relaxing. |

| Over the last 7 years, I've found a particular nack for art photography. It's developed slowly, only because I'm doing this on the side and I'm not prolific in my work. But I've become a bit of an underground curiosity in my city. If I could turn this into a full time career that would get me out of... |

| I'm in the software industry in an engineering role, and I used to think this was a good way to go. Why has that point of view changed? Agile & "DevOps". There is a movement towards being increasingly and constantly social in the way that we work. Private workspaces have all but disapp... |

| I usually use pictures of myself, but sometimes I use pictures of other things that are more of a reflection of me or how I feel at the moment. Because sometimes words are insufficient to describe how I feel, or people just don't want to hear about it. My headshot here is of me, but with a mask... w... |

| Are any of your friends artists or art photographers? I am an art photographer. One of the things I enjoy doing is taking the people I love in my life, and showing them how I see them. Perhaps one of your artist friends would be happy to have you as a willing and patient subject, to let them practic... |
