I've read that individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (Asperger's specifically), when they look at human facial expressions such as those expressing anger, sadness, etc., that they interpret facial expressions logically and not intuitively, contributing to their difficulty with processing faci...

@Adamantium I actually really am an Atheist though. I never understood the whole concept of the "Trinity," and I think most likely Jesus was really just an apocalyptic prophet. I do come from a Christian background, and I have experimented with a variety of religions in my past. Of course,...

I'm Atheist, but the Book of Revelation in the Bible genuinely scares me. I know the leading Bible scholars of our time view it as a largely symbolic book, meant to psychologically aid the Christians in their struggle against the Roman empire. I know that the numeral "666" stands for Nero ...

I'm currently on Effexor. It's an SNRI class psychiatric medication, and it's also supposed to help with obsessive thoughts.

Can medications like these distill the intensity of Aspergian special interests, since they counteract obsessive thinking, which is commonly associated with Autism?

I myself am 23. I'm just worried that I largely destroyed my special interest in politics and economics, and it feels like I have no special interest now. Since I'm not as much into politics/economics as I used to be, therefore I can't make a bridge to connect it to physics and thus get interested i...

Do/Can the special interests of Asperger's decline in intensity as one grows older?

I'm somewhat curious about the show Star Trek, exploring it. Where do I start? I really don't want to spend the money buying a Star Trek Dvd, so I really just want to watch an episode online. But I have no idea really where to exactly start, the Star Trek from the '70's? That seems pretty boring, I ...

I'm confused. Years ago as a kid I was diagnosed with Asperger's, mild Asperger's, but in the years following, I was undiagnosed. I am socially awkward, though I can read and understand intuitively facial expressions and the like. I've always had pretty much one all engrossing interest throughout my...

I've been having this thought lately...well, actually, it's a very troublesome thought. It seems like I have discovered a way to somehow undermine and destroy my special interests...now I feel this thought has gotten out of control, and I really have to struggle to repress it. It's eroded away my sp...

Hello, I'm not sure if I have Asperger's or not, but it's like I've had this interest in politics and also economics for like over 4 years now, and I really want this special interest to be gone, because it crowds out all other possible interests. I really want to get interested in Physics and Math,...

Hello, For the past 4-5 years, I have been really into politics. Now, it feels like I'm not into anymore, but it's the only thing that really catches my attention and is enjoyable to me. Is this still a special interest? I feel like I can destroy or at least make subside my special interests, throug...

Hello, I need help, and I need someone to try to understand what I am going through. All my life, I've gone through obsessions. First it was construction equipment when I was three, then sharks, then cars, then Metroid (a video game), then birds and Godzilla, then china and Buddhism, etc. For the pa...

Well, I'm not completely neurotypical, I do have my problems, namely Schizoaffective disorder, but many of my feelings and such are similar to Aspergers.

Thank you though! And I like your Avatar!

Hello, I just joined WrongPlanet.net, and I am eager to talk to the people here! I'm a 21 year old guy, and I live in the United States. I'm also not autistic and as an extension I don't have Asperger's either. To be honest, I like hanging out with Aspies more than non-Aspies because I don't feel so...
