(tl;dr version) If you've not actually done some assembly for some ISA out there, make that next on your list. You may never use it professionally, but damn is it useful to actually know what the CPU is really doing. I have to agree with AngelKnight, if you haven't done it very much, an assembly la...

Hi! Haven't posted on here in awhile, but I happen to write BIOS software for a living, so I thought I might reply =) 1) The system BIOS cacheable option shouldn't be affecting anything other than BIOS POST speed (and should be left enabled). 2 & 3) I'm not sure what those options mean in this c...

http://intranet.cs.man.ac.uk/apt/async/ Have fun. Vanilla_Slice And more specifically: http://intranet.cs.man.ac.uk/apt/projects/processors/amulet/ The AMULET research is really neat, sort of a shame that it doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. It can be quite a mental leap to move from synchronous ...

To be honest, I'd rather be surrounded by mormons than southern baptists - no offense to southern baptists. And we have no evangelicals or fundamentalists here - a very good thing. Having been around southern baptists quite a bit, and mormons only a fair bit...I'd have to agree with you =) Local fo...

I love machinery in general, and I love it when a machine is well made and performs what is was designed for well. I love nurturing old hardware and giving it ro good homes, finding life for what would otherwise be trash...I love what you can DO with computers, I love the thought and time and effort...

If so, what do you think? If not, maybe you could take a gander, if you enjoy coding =)

He can certainly be quite pompous and full of himself from time to time, but he still makes interesting points, and I find it enjoyable to read, in general. =)

Well, I mean...pi is cool and all, but...e really does rock.

At any rate, no worries, irrational constants for the win! Happy quite belated (and early) Pi day!

Mostly x86 assembly here, with a large smattering of PIC assembly (which I really do adore...) I like assembly. Can you get a job just doing that? Or do most companies use C or Java now? You can get a job doing x86 assembly if you work where I work...or our competitor company =) Though, we do do a g...

No? Whassat? Oh, Hwahsi Jie. I dunno about that. Maybe if it was still full of brothels =) I'm actually working in the Jhongshan District. The Taiwanese working day is a long day indeed, seems to leave little time for shopping, especially as I'll be working weekends. Ah well. I was hoping to at leas...

The lights of Taipei are gorgeous at night... The city isn't too shabby during the day time, either. Well, pollution aside, but it DOES remind me of home. Ah, Atlanta. I've been told the first week of fall weather hit Atlanta this week, and I missed it. I feel soft inside. Is that sufficiently random?

I think you did well with the letter, and in general, the situation so far. I know that I would not have handled it so well. However, as regards to personal confrontation, I do not know what to offer as advice. It's something that I am particularly bad with, especially with unreasonable people. I kn...

Well, I'd rather say Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV instead of Faye Faye...but I don't think I'd get married to an anime character =) Might be neat to go out, although I suppose age is something of a problem...but still.

Ed rocks. She's my hero!
