My son was different from the beginning. I put the development books aside because they didnt apply to him. I find my aspie child easier more of the time during outbursts. My NT daughter can get so loud that I feel like running away... or worse, the silent scream face/dear caught by the headlights takes over me. My aspie son, I can see the beginning of his spiral up or meltdown, and know that it will pass...

Males are easier to talk with... I can go sit at a bar and talk about sports or world events. We dont even have to make eye contact!
