We have five children. I've gotten better in the last few year about ignoring the noise and/or spacing out into my own "comfort zone" when it's too noisy. |

When I was a teen, someone compared me to Ally Sheedy's character in "Breakfast Club." I had not seen the movie (didn't see it until I was in college) so I didn't even know what they meant. Recently I found out that the character is supposed to have Asperger's?

The worst job I ever had was three months as a factory production supervisor. I was hired right out of college because I had a degree. I hated it so much that it made me physically ILL. (Though I did meet my husband there and we are still married!) What a coincidence. I met my back injury i...

I used to have it all the time, from childhood til I was about forty. My current dentist doesn't use it at all. I've had two root canals with just novocaine and I was OK. I prefer the nitrous, though, because it helped to relax me.

Maybe a certain theory can help you a bit? It is Experiental learning by David Kolb That says to learn something you have to do 4 steps: - observe and reflect (watch somebody speak spanish) - theorize (if I use a sentence like this... or if I use this word I can get the message across) - experiment...

I'm 40yo mother to a 10yo boy, living on my own, trying to keep things together for us. Waiting on appoinments and official diagnosis. My long-time PCP is behind me, fortunately. I don't know a lot about testing yet, but preliminary scores of 33 and 37. Fortunate to have my passion as my paying car...

(I suspect asperger's in myself.) I got high grades in school, natl honor society, honor roll...the whole shebang. I've always been good at memorization but poor in application of what I've memorized. For example, I was able to memorize the algebraic formulas but when it came to applying them, I was...

I was a complete crybaby until about fifth or sixth grade. At home, at school, everywhere. I got in trouble for it a LOT at home and at school and ridiculed mercilessly. This scenario happened more than once: I would go to a friend's house for a birthday party, and something would inevitably happen ...

I do not know how I did things like hold down a job. I worked the register at McDonalds for a few years in high school and college. I suppose in a lot of ways, a fast food job was perfect for me because the interactions with customers were as standardized and predictable as the menu. I tried anothe...

One of my fellow church members works at WalMart and I see her there quite often. She encouraged me to apply for a job and to put her name down as a reference. I filled out all the information and I'm embarrassed to say that I FAILED THE ASSESSMENT which was mostly about customer service scenarios. ...
