Hi all, I just wanted your opinion on something as I'm not sure what to do. I got diagnosed with ASD this year aged 36. I had a very bad experience with the NHS organisation I was referred to (The psychologist stood me up online several times, had a bad attitude and kind of dismissed me prior to our...

I've had a really bad experience with the NHS and need to find someone who fully understands adult autism/aspergers and masking and won't dismiss me for being "too articulate" even though it's taken years to get to to this point. :( I find the NHS is too geared around children or the sever...

The thing I find difficult about many on the Left is they're SO obsessed language and they're FOREVER CHANGING what's acceptable to say or what you can and can't talk about. I think this can be difficult for many on the Autistic spectrum who tend to have less of a filter and might not be able to kee...

I was in a party the other day, there was a lot of noise, and near the end, I was starting to overload. I spent the night sleeping with noise canceling headphones, as noises that wouldn't normally bother me were drilling in my head (crickets, ac, fridge...), the next day was the same. The ways I fo...

Boris isn't that much like Trump, apart from being un-PC (mostly in the 1990s in his, newspaper column) He's liberal in some areas and right leaning in others. I think London was better under him than the current mayor. One of his first moves as PM was to scrap the previous PM's target to reduce imm...

My autism obsession returned. I couldn't stop researching. That sounds very Autistic. Where did you hear that Autistic people use less filler words like umm or err etc? I'm not sure that's true. I think what really helped me was meeting others with Aspergers/high functioning Autism who I rea...

I like to group my items by type and pack similar ones together. Or sometimes I will do it by weight. The sense of order calms me in an environment that can often be challenging sensory-wise and overwhelming in terms of decision making.

British people tend to like eccentrics and characters which can play well for people with Aspergers to some extent. Most people here find my ways funny and interesting and want to know me better and it's easier to make friends, whereas when I lived in France and Holland I found the people more narro...

Hi all I really need something to block out my neighbours loud TV/radio that comes through my wall as its driving me to insanity. I can't concentrate on anything and I can't relax. :( I'm currently borrowing someone's Bose QC3 headphones but I'm not impressed. I think since noise cancelling headphon...

I've got worse, particularly with sound sensory issues and becoming overwhelmed, but I'm not sure if it's my age itself OR the extra responsibilities that have come with age. :?

I used to care when I was younger but these days I mostly hang out with other Aspies or people on the Autistic spectrum, so they don't really judge me or care. Most NTs are too much hard work and I don't have the patience for it as I get older.

I do this, especially with steps. I think it's a way of creating order among chaos. I don't only do it when I'm anxious though. I find it fun anyway.

I don't really like it as I do feel it minimises my issues. If people say "you must be high functioning" I say "I have good and bad days" Plus traditionally it's been used for people who had a speech delay as a child and I didn't. I do think it would be useful to have a term for ...

For those of you with Aspergers, do you find you get a different reaction if you tell people you have Aspergers to if you say you have Autism? Does one elicit a more positive response than the other or any other differences in reaction you've noticed? My gut instinct is people react better when I te...
