This is a classic autistic issue. It can be very debilitating. Has anyone ever found ways round it? I classically have spent my whole life being kept stuck by not seeing the big picture, but just the ''fixed'' details, and messing my life up beyond description as a result I appreciate that this can ...

I'm fascinated by how women have nice hair when they've finished after the pool. What seems normal is b...

It depends upon whether or not all parties are satisfied with arrangements. A nephew and his lover live with my sister-in-law and her husband; they all cooperate and contribute to the household; they prefer a big extended family, and enjoy their life together. Prior to the nephew finishing college,...

sand and stars in a bottle, The man I stayed with didn't have the best house (condemned). He didn't have the best habits. His bed was dirty. But, I didn't get raped. Nor did I have sex with him. And, he didn't force me to do anything. In my eyes that's better than nothing. Of course I left though. ...

I stayed for about 2 weeks with a questionable man. Me too, a few weeks on the sofa of an older guy who, whilst in many people's eyes would have been questionable, and perhaps even was (a bit), showed me extraordinary kindness in my desperate situation. He gave me his spare key, and he was respectf...

It is in fact quite possible that an untold number of homeless people are undiagnosed autistic They cannot maintain a regular life, but have no diagnosis and therefore no means to understand their executive functioning & social differences. So they learn to survive by being homeless How did I ge...

Detail-focusing is a part of autism, and I find it hard to forget about things even if I throw them away or give them away
I believe a lot of compulsive hoarders must be on the autism spectrum

My wife lived with her parents until she was either 29 or 30. She supported herself during that time. She was a "surprise" baby as she was born when her parents were already older than couples normally are when they have children. Her parents, therefore benefited from having her live with...

It's easy to become extremely isolated living alone in a flat, so I think in light of that you are almost certainly doing the right thing to stay with them

Unless living with friends is possible for you

I live in subsidised social housing and struggle to manage on a daily basis; All of this is because I was kicked out/had to leave my parent's home because of family dysfunction and suffering abuse from a family member. If I'd had the option to stay at my parent's home and sort my life out, believe m...

Does anyone else do this due to OCD? I think in my case it's been a symptom of trauma as well, but I often feel as if I'm living in a really dusty, overloaded thrift store full of crap Having a lot of stuff sucks and hinders one's life unless you like where you live, which I do not Anyone else exper...
