Embrace your inner drunken toddler. Let yourself write badly, then begin the adventure of improving it. Easier said than done, I know: I struggle the same way. Part of my journey has been trying to get myself to remember how, as a child, my passions were for me, alone. I dove into them, focused on t...

I do this constantly, generally because my mind is elsewhere. There's really only room for 1 thing in there! I'm also heavily routine based. My pockets always have the same contents, my before-work routine is the same, my meds are always arranged the same to help me remember which I take when, it's ...

I'm a chubby guy----and I don't want to look too fat. I'm vain that way. I do a kind of reverse pickard maneuver, where I pull my shirt out of it's tuck a bit so it isn't tight on my belly. |

I basically have 2 modes of dress - work or not. I may avoid fancier places if I'm in not-work mode, but that's the limit of my thinking about it. My work mode features a suspiciously coffee colored short sleeve cotton button down, so I never really worry about wrecking anything. I never wear open t...

I'm generally pretty good, but if I've been taken captive by an interest, all bets are off. As others have noted, if I'm driving, I'm driving, so that's usually pretty good.

A couple of my friends said "I can see that." The reaction I liked best was when my wife told her sister, "I could have told him that 20 years ago! I thought he knew!" My counselor (who I believe works with autistic children) said "I'm frustrated that I didn't see this."

I've had a lot of fights with inanimate objects, vacuums included. We've had a couple from 'high-end' brands that seemed to have gratuitous differences from normal ones, and I'd have trouble figuring out how to get the tipping hinge-thing to unlock, or get the extensions attached, or whatever, and t...

If I'm knocked off my routine in the morning, I forget things - my meds especially. If I do things out of order in the shower, I'm liable to shampoo twice and not realize until it gets really lathery the second time. It's pretty normal for me to walk into a different room to get something and forget...

Hello. I've been here for a while now, reading but rarely posting, and think the time may have come ripe to introduce myself. I'm a middle-aged man who recently became aware of how well I fit the pattern of autism spectrum/broad autistic phenotype. The thought has occurred to me over the years, but ...

I'm similar, MG. I'll get narrow-mindedly fixated on some topic until my curiosity is satisfied. After that, sometimes I continue the routine of visiting related forums and news sites, sometimes I find a new thing to latch onto. To be honest, since I've realized how much of my personality is driven ...
