Hi Alex,

Thanks for the heads up.

I hope you can keep Wrong Planet up and running for many years to come. I know that this site doesn't get as much web traffic as it used to, but for those of us who still choose to use it, it's a great resource.

Cheers,

While I got lucky and had a STEM job and enough to buy a house, I think anyone on the spectrum is fortunate if they can move out of their parent's home and live independently without assistance. Living independently and earning enough money to play for it is quite an achievement for anyone with aut...

I would say that you are better off not doing self destructive things like drinking or smoking cigarettes and weed. But if you want to try it just to know what is like, then go ahead.

All joking aside, most people don't come from wealth, 100k in retirement savings by the time you are 35 is not a reasonable expectation. Most people these days live paycheck to paycheck with little left over, especially young people. Not to mention autistic people are often unemployed / underemployed.

Really??? Who has 100k saved up in their 30's? That's a crazy expectation to put on someone.

I have more than that in my retirement in parent's trust.

Well, I guess they don't call you Texasmoneyman300 for nothing, eh?

Don't beat yourself up about not having a girlfriend at 37, lots of NT and ND men alike have issues with attracting the opposite sex. The dating market in 2026 is brutal.

That all being said I don't think it's a lost cause, if you want to date then date. You never know until you try.

Have you tried caffeine or nicotine? I find either or both of those help with my concentration, especially while reading.

I had a friend that interpreted all jokes no matter how benign as insults, which made it hard to have a friendly relaxed conversation. She was Autistic.

Needless to say we are no longer friends. Who wants to be around someone that you have to walk on eggshells around?

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. It's seems like many of us autistics have little to no family left / in our lives, so you are in good company here.

They frighten me. Sorry guys, it's nothing personal, but I've had one too many bad experiences with abusive guys trying to frame their abusive behavior as "sorry babe I'm just very neurospicy lol lol" So now if a guy tells me on a first date that he's on the spectrum, I'm slamming the &qu...
