I am not looking to "cure" my son. I worry that he is a milk and carbs addict since that is ALL he will eat (it's like he can't get enough) and wonder if that might be adding to his inattention and irritability. I have just heard about Celiac disease and thought it might be worth checking out.

My son is a 9 years old dx with AS this past fall. At 5 he was dx with ADHD and we put him on medication when he started school at 6. The meds. really seem to help him in school to concentrate and stay on task. I had mentioned to his dr some issues we were have (a lot of anger and frustration toward...

Did someone post something a while ago about Yoga Kids? If so I would love some info about it. Our OT has suggested some yoga to build upper body strength for my son and I remember someone saying these videos were very good.

Thanks for any info!

Any suggestions on how to get your child (and teacher) ready to start a new school year like meeting with the teacher to discuss the childs issues and letting them (teacher/student) meet before the 1st day or providing info about AS for the teacher before the 1st day so they will know how to deal wi...

I would love to have some answers to those questions too. I dread sending my son back to school in a few weeks. He hates it so much! I was thinking about how great he has done over the summer and no stimming at all. I realized that he hasn't had his usual stresses from going to school.

We are not taking him out of scouts. It is the one of the only activities that he really enjoys. I just hope he can make some connections with the other boys this year.

Okay, here are some answers to your questions.... Does your son actually want friends in the first place? Many Aspies are happy with their own company. They mostly don't really play together, just kind of around each other unless it's being on the computer together or arguing about who wants to play...

My son is 9 and has yet to be offically dx although we (parents), school and dr all strongly agree that Asperger's seems to fit him. He was dx with ADD at 4 but in the last year it has become apparent that there is something more going on. We are waiting for the school to do an evaluation in the fal...

I think it all started with a bad homework night. Then when bedtime rolled around he was already frustrated so he couldn't go to sleep although he was tired. Once he gets in that state, everything bothers him. He said his mattress isn't comfortable because he wants to sleep in our bed (we have a new...

I need advice on what is the best thing to do during a meltdown. Typically we send my son to his room and let me cry or whatever it out. Right now he can't go to sleep and is upset with everything from his mattress to his sheets. He is running around, yelling, and stomping around. Do I just let leav...

How do you get your Aspies to do their homework? Some nights (if my son is having a good day) he will whip through it no problem. Other days he will sit with the same sheet in front of him and do nothing. We have tried rewards and taking things away (tv, computer, etc) if he doesn't get it done. Non...
