I'm 54 and, in a lot of ways, feel like I stopped maturing at about 20.

I'm 54 and got an official signed diagnosis a few weeks ago, just over the road from you in Huntsville, Al. Sounds like your psychologist isn't qualified.

I've been doing hands on computer work for about 30 years, the last 23 of those have been programming (.Net). I've been a tech lead at several companies. My resume is pretty nice but I've struggled a lot with interpersonal relationships. So much that I really don't have that much of a network after ...

Thanks again to everyone for the replies. It's amazing how much relief I feel having an answer that isn't dementia related. I was doing some serious catastrophic thinking to the point where it was a part of a mental crash I took into depression about two years ago.

I'm not so sure the neighbor commenting really was a hint about the TV. It's quite possible that the person was just concerned that his dog was too loud.

Why do you seem to think your landlord or neighbors owe you these things? You're basically demanding charity and claiming it must be discrimination if your demands aren't met. Charity is voluntary.

When I'm browsing on my phone or programming for work I have to line up things on the screen to be symmetrical. Like each time I scroll to something different.

But still if we get separated in, for instance, a grocery store I'm still not great at picking her out when I see her across the store. I'm wondering if this explains my attraction to redheads. They're easier to find in a crowd. Maybe that's why I dated a couple and ended up getting married to one.

Face blindness sometimes makes things "interesting". ....... - We married in 2000 and are still happily married. But still if we get separated in, for instance, a grocery store I'm still not great at picking her out when I see her across the store. Wow, that's a compelling story and I fee...

Thank you guys for the replies. Before being diagnosed I thought I might have early onset dementia or something.
Kind of a relief to find out it seems to be fairly common with AS. |

Any software devs around here? I've been doing .Net stuff for almost 25 years.
Curious if there are any companies friendly to folks like us. As in you could actually tell them about the diagnosis and still be considered for a job. |
