Hi there, I'm a technical project manager who has been running projects globally since the early 2000s. I have had a lot of success in dealing with offshore folks, to a degree that exceeds that of my NT colleagues. I haven't really given it a lot of thought, till recently - within the AS context. I'...

Thanks for your input. And also your concern. The thing with my partner (we've been committed for 24 years, and legally married for 11), is that she's got intense panic/anxiety that's biochemically based. She's also got some neurological issues from prior head trauma, as well as a history of some st...

I've been well-nigh convinced that I'm an Aspie for about 10 years now. I was never diagnosed -- this was based on an AHA moment, way back when, after I came across some info on Asperger's, then took a number of tests, ticked off a multitude of boxes for my extended family members, as well, and I sc...

I've always felt more in common with guys than gals. Part of it is interest. Part of it is, they can be so much more straightforward than women and I can be blunt without them taking it the wrong way. Also, women/girls can be so tactile, always reaching out to touch your arm or give you a hug or a p...

So, I checked out the forums without logging in, and I found a few posts that make me pretty easy to identify, for anyone who knows what they've looking at. So, I'm ditching that username (since it can't be deleted) and starting fresh with another username I used some years ago. Turns out, forum ins...

Finally realizing my dad was calling me names -- and had been for many years. I was probably eight or nine years old, before I realized that when my dad was saying words that were bad names, he was talking about me. At times, he was talking right to me, but I didn't realize it. Till I was old enough...

I have trouble with this all the time. I have tried -- with various degrees of success: 5HTP -- modified tryptophan that sometimes helps me relax Calms Forte -- homeopathic remedy that sometimes helps me relax Benadryl Severe Allergy and Sinus Headache -- it's a drug, yes, but it really helps, plus,...

Einstein didn't talk till he was 3 years old... I, on the other hand, was a very verbal child. I was talking before most other kids around me, and I read and wrote much more fluently than my peers, early on. However, I had a lot of trouble hearing -- I couldn't distinguish between "s" & "th" and...

I'm 43 years old, and my parents still treat me like I'm an imbecile, which is pretty annoying, because frankly they're not smart enough to lord anything over me. It gets pretty embarrassing when they come to visit, and we interact with neighbors and staff at stores -- my Dad loves to step in and ta...

Thanks to Wikipedia: Tarmac (short for tarmacadam, a portmanteau for tar-penetration macadam) is a type of highway surface, pioneered by John Loudon McAdam in around 1820. Strictly speaking, Tarmac refers to a material patented by Edgar Purnell Hooley in 1901. The term is also used, with varying deg...

Thanks - I have been in touch with the Asperger's Association of New England, but I have to give it another try. I have a lot of trouble communicating over the phone (if I have to really pay attention and get what others are saying), but that's the main way to contact them. I've gotten some input fr...

That sounds familiar... (Tho' I got overloaded about 2/3 of the way down and had to step away to quiet my mind) I've compiled a list, too, in part because I needed to prove to myself that I wasn't just pulling things out of the air... and I insisted that in order to "count" any of the traits, I had ...

I think a lot of NTs are like that. It's been my experience, anyway. You could try just checking in with folks, on a regular basis -- just to remind them that you're still around and you still need help. Send 'em an email. Give 'em a call. Just to say "hi" -- but also to jump-start their memories.
