And so the group is about 50-50 between non-autistic leaders and autistic leaders, and yes, about half the ...

I have a different view. I think people who are not "fully" informed on asperger see some of our behaviors actions etc and label according to what they know. Depression and anxiety - very common in all disabilities even ones such as multiple schlerosis which my father had. They never said it was thi...

Oh boy. The blog hit home. I know I am going to sound like an idiot here but I am 45 years old and at least once aweek I STILL start bawling because I have no "real" friends. I can imitate for very short periods but usually veer all conversations to my topics that I like almost 100% of the time. Whi...

I just wrote a MySpace blog about the ways girls may mask ASD, drawing mostly from my own experience. The blog is here: Blog-How Girls Diguise ASD I thought this might be an interesting topic to discuss. If you are a female, what ways did you learn to disguise your social awkwardness? Also, I've ju...

The original poster and I sound like we are in the same position. We are somewhere between high and low functioning, been correctly diagnosed, and are ignored for most of the rest of the part. This is my situation and I call us "lost in the middle" I think the middle group may be the most ignored b...

I don't go to "mental health professionals" simply because it has not been a good experience. Most know ve...

. . . but kids in the hands of people who have literally ZERO ASD understanding at all. I mean why would they not want to understand autism/asperger for their clients who have it??? Makes no sense to me that they would not want to understand. . . Something that has taken me a long time to understan...

EEEE. What I bolded is exactly what I was trying to do. You hit it on the head right their. They were polite but did not get my point. You are the first one who did. I was very clear (I think) I mean how else can a person say it. I worded it clearly when I asked for that. Thank you very much...

. . . If its the IN thing to support war they will. When its not the in thing they wont. Talking about people who go with the majority versus making up their own minds on their own beliefs and not the groups belief. I mean like do they ever actually even read up on or educate themselves on what the...

. . . I never make phone calls. That is super hard for me. So anytime somebody says "call these people etc" I have never been able to follow through and pick up the phone. Calling people I dont know may be one of the hardest things for me to do in socializing. Dont know why but even after 45 years ...

. . . I really like what you are sharing and I do agree with you but how do you get "a team" how do you really get an advocate. I think I need them offline in the sense they need to be able to help hands on. Make sense? . . . Yeah, I'd rather have live, face-to-face supporters and colleagues. Okay,...
