My friend really likes Nate, and she has talked to him. She agrees that it is the shiny new toy type thing. When we first got together, sex was new and exciting. And he wanted it all the time. Now the relationship has become more work than he expected. Not saying he thinks that's bad, but just not w...

It is possible. I can't disagree. But I have had three counselors talk to Nate, this one was on a professional level in an attempts to get a referral, to try to get help. All of them said, "I can't diagnosis him. I'm not qualified, but I think you're right. I think this is Aspergers, but I can't hel...

That's what I don't understand. We did exactly what he wanted on Valentines Day. He wanted to go to a train show. So we did. We flirted all day, but nothing serious. Crawl into bed and he just looks at me like I have some rare disease. I just don't understand.

I can read people pretty well. And for the most part, reading Nate isn't too hard. Animals are amazing. They always seem to know how we feel. Nate is a cat person and mom is allergic, otherwise, I'm sure we would have a cat or two. He's not much for dogs and calls ours moccasins. They are small dogs...

I can't tell you what to do, and opposites do attract very often, but you said he's made you realize you don't want to be alone. Did you talk to him about this? Be careful he's not manipulating you. I know my boyfriend can be very easily manipulated. I see his family do it often. Please be careful.

Yeah, I have noticed that. Decisions can be almost impossible for Nate. If it small stuff, I don't usually have an issue making decisions for him. What do I make for supper type things. But big stuff, I think he needs to do. Or at least try to do. Maybe if he can somehow convey to me an idea of what...

I'll have to let you know after Friday. We are back to the general counselor to get another referral. You have to jump through the hoops. Hopefully the next counselor will focus on AS. And it won't be just another pit stop along the way. Thank you for your help. I'm not sure if a list is the best id...

Again, you sound totally like Nate. "What do you want?" His response, "I don't know." SOOOO frustrating! I have ran a few things by him, just examples. He seems to understand the whole kid falls down and gets hurt you need to check and make sure they are ok and maybe kiss the booboo to make it bette...

OMG! Nate says that all the time! If it aint broke, don't fix it. How do I get him to make that realization?! So don't just take the shrug. Try not to be confrontational, but ask him. Just about anything I ask him except if he wants ketchup for his fries can be confrontational for him. I'm know I'm ...

Many of the things he does for you, you don't see (and he may not conceptualize it). Things that most people would take for granted, such as doing his OWN laundry in a timely fashion, or taking out the trash, or doing what with anyone else would be a given. You can't know how much he is or is not g...

Alexithymia - I'm gonna have to look that up. Nate is normally very expressive. Even if it's not always appropriate. Just when he gets pushed for an emotional answer. Then he just sort of freezes. My dear, I can totally understand what you mean. And I feel for you. When Nate didn't live with me, he ...

He doesn't email. Even when he did have an email, he hardly ever used it. I dont' know if it still works. I have asked him to text, but he doesn't do that either. I have asked him to write because I know for me sometimes writing how I feel can help me better express myself, but I'm a writer, and I r...

The counselor we are seeing isn't even a couples counselor. This is just a pit stop to get a referral to hopefully see someone who has experience with AS. We live in a small town and had to start at the bottom and work our way up. I will have to talk to him more about the family thing. And I will tr...

So you think that the living conditions might be a really big part of it? I never put that much stock into it. He's been there a year now. I thought by now he would have learned to adjust a bit. How long do you think it takes? This is where I am totally clueless. The counselor we are seeing is a pit...

Happily, in the next week, we will finally have access to the internet at home, and I'm hoping I can get him to sign on. And I plan on talking to the counselor about all this to see what he says. Nate really wants to too. I'm at a cross road in our relationship. I've told Nate that too. At this poin...

And I have talked to him about the whole newness of him living with my family and my daughter. We live with my parents. Being a single mom, I couldn't afford to live on my own after college. I couldn't find a good job. Wonderful economy. Anyway, he lived in a hole. I don't know how else to describe ...
