Maybe it would be easier to find an NT person like a family member or family friend and ask them to go with you into social settings to help you learn?

Interesting thread.. hmm.. I know that my mother has AS, and family rumors say that her grandmother was wacky (whatever that means, take it or leave it).. And my sister shows signs of AS but I'm still not convinces it isn't nurture v.s. nature.. That being said my mother has 10 brothers and sisters ...

I find it odd... on this site, if a topic about a parent wanting their child to give them more hugs and be more emotionally connected is discussed, everyone bashes the parent for expecting that from their autistic child.... I agree that it's scary. I have a 16 year old son with ADHD, a 12 year old with ADHD/probably AS as well, and a 9 year old who is NT. My mother was diagonsed with a personality disorder as a child and then with ADD/ ADHD in the 1980's.
