NTs here and in other forums...sigh... well this forum(site) is dominated by NT's pretending to be AS in my opinion. the same social rules apply here as in the general public, and people that are the most socially "hip" are the most popular ones. there are contests of who is the most popular "aspie...

I would never bother to read or post on an 'NT parents with autistic children' type thread as I could predict how it would be. Lots of pretence at being really interested in our opinions mixed with an appalling level of patronisation. I'd tell them, when little Johnny is old enough just point him i...

I'd want to try life as an NT for a month then have the choice as to whether I wanted to stay that way or not. I can't know for sure if being NT is better unless I tried it out. I'd like to know whether just having an NT brain was enough to get people off my back or whether other factors as playing ...

I've read that NT's who live a long time with an aspie start to develop aspie qualities themselves. I can say this is true for me, an NT with an aspie husband, stepson, and mother-in-law. The people I spend the majority of my time with have similar traits and I can see how I've adopted many of thos...

I'm gonna show my daughter this thread she is nearly nine and sleeps with about 15 teddies, she loves them and got a teddy bear book out of the school library recently and got hassled by some other unkind kids that teddies are for babies - which is obviously quite wrong as I explained! Quite so. I'...

I cant help being annoyed by a lot of thigns people do. Sometiems I can hold it in but it often finds a way of coming out later on - it's like input = output at some point in the future. I think it makes sense that we would find more things annoying as we are by our very natures far more sensitive a...

Yes I had a small teddy I was given by my Nan when I was born and took that to bed with me until I was in my 30's, when the stuffing started coming out of his head so he's retired now and sleeps in a drawer and I have a replacement teddy. Unless I have a hot water bottle and teddy I just don't feel ...

http://hippiekiller.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/troll.jpg possible? No Bernard also posts on an AS Forum in the UK - he just likes telling his stories. I think they give him an outlet for his frustrations and help him come to terms with the stuff he has to put up with as he appears to live in some ...

Dexter is a psychopath. Hardly similar. He is supposed to be psychopathic, but quite honestly I am not sure they did a good job at portraying that. In fact, probably the people wouldn't like the show if he was portrayed realistically as a psychopath. It seems that in efforts to make the character m...

You may have a lower empathy - and thats fine, but stop ASSuming that everyone is like you. An empathy deficiency is NOT a diagnostic criteria for Aspergers or Autism. It CAN occur within the spectrum, but it is more exception than rule. I think you'll find that we do lack empathy. We lack or are d...

People have made good points but I've had this discussion a number of times on AS forums and it's always the same - 'We're nothing like sociopaths' Well I personally beg to differ. I feel I only stick to the rules because it's expected and could quite easily kill someone I disliked enough and not fe...

There's a thread about it on this very site:- http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt57576.html http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb4345/is_12_32/ai_n29146842/ "SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. -- The late convicted serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer probably had Asperger's syndrome, Arturo J.
