In answer to first post, some aspies are known for forming strange accents. I found this out as my daughter was diagnosed, I was looking at material in regards to Aspergers again (as I'm AS), and I came across this little titbit; that sometimes strange accents just come from nowhere. We always wonde...

I think the most hilarious thing a shrink ever uttered into my ears was when upon my suggesting to her that perhaps I had Asperger's she said - *no you don't. you don't talk funny. People with Asperger's Syndrome speak slow and deliberately. You don't* I see. Thanks, Miss Shrink! That's right up th...

Well, left-handedness is associated with creativity.
We as aspies/autistics are seen as more analytical than creative.
Therefore, I wonder if left-handedness is rarer in aspies/autistics than neurotypicals? |

All of this: I used to have symptoms of (and in fact a diagnosis of) obsessive-compulsive disorder, but I would say it has gone into remittance. My OCD features were mostly associated with cleanliness: I would insist that others wash their hands before I'd eat the same food as them; I would never ea...

Thanks guys... A subscription is a thought but I think he's more into the sitting down and drinking beer part of fishing TBH. I don;'t think it's a good idea to try and encourage him to stop smoking... he's not like that. He'll give up when he feels like it, if at all. He'll just see me as a preachy...

I have the book in front of me. He describes OCD, which is typical OCD fare - then he goes on to mention the more common aspects of aspies with 'OCD': The typical behaviour of children with Asperger's syndrome includes repetitive or compulsive actions. This can include ensuring that objects are in ...

I've missed it already and to make it look like I give at least 50% of a hoot about it, I need to get something for him. Especially as he gave me £100 for mine recently which allowed me to get a Wii. It should be relatively light and compact to send up to him via post (300 miles away). Unless it's r...

Don't take this too personally, but I have a hard time taking wicca as a legit religion.... It claims to be "alternative", but really there is nothing alternative about it. It's the same mythological fairy tale bs like any other mainstream religion, and from what I've seen many of their followers h...

I currently have his book out on loan from the library, and I can't say I'm impressed with it. I've also just read all of the entries pertaining to OCD and he's even described what aspies have as a particular type which described all the OCPD symptoms - OCPD in all but name! I don't have the book i...

Zhaozhou, THANK YOU! I am going to use that reference so often now! I love this bit: Obsessive-compulsive disorder and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are two very distinct psychological disorders, but when either of them is depicted in the media it is with the former label only. This is m...

That's my point - 'Wicca'' in itself is diverse as can be. Yes, there are specific types but I did not make preference to them.

No offence, but are you ever wrong.
People constantly mislabel it as a religion. It is not a religion, and is not 'un-free'. there is not set doctrine, there are not set of beliefs. It is whatever you believe to be within a scoop of pantheistic beliefs. |

I've always had obsessive compulsive tendencies. Not in the way of having to perform rituals like in OCD, but in the way of freaking out if things aren't done "just so" or if I don't have any control over things. A doctor noticed this in me when I was a kid. I've become more flexible over time, but...
