I used to be too afraid to make any calls, but I've learn just to do it even though I'm still afraid. This is me, the only ultimate solution I have found is also to just do it. A problem with phones is generally a phobia, so basically the solution is to just do it. One coping strategy which can be ...

Another point, I’ve come to conclusion that it is not just how much is drank, but what is drank. For example, consecutive Vodka and Cokes is not good. Not because of the Vodka, but because of the caffeine / alcohol issue. It’s a really bad mix. I personally need to remember this next time out, but a...

This is a longer term plan and not an immediate fix for the next party, but my tip would be to think outside the box and try something different which will help develop self confidence and self worth socially without the need of copious drink. The basic idea to these suggestions is that it is much e...

Lurker – absolutely. It’s not intentional, but the forum is so large and active that by the time I have got around to skimming, not even managing to read existing posts in any great detail, I have already spent so much time. This is a problem when I feel obligated to read posts and understand people...

My mother told me four years ago this happens to everybody. She said when there is a group of people and they're all talking, you only hear part of it because of the noise in the background. I wouldn’t dispute this, but aspies probably struggle more than most. I wouldn’t be surprised if many people...

I think it is fairly normal for anyone with a spectrum disorder to be susceptible to these problems. I think it stems from an inability to prioritise sensory information, often this also includes vision. My dad is always telling me to tune out background noises, but I don’t think he appreciates it i...

you live in nottingham! i live there too! Maybe we should have our own group! Come on people. Someone here must have experience of a NAS or similar type of group. It appears that there is limited support for a certain section of people. A sort of limbo land. This is what frustrates me. I’m not equi...

I haven’t been to any other independent AS groups, only one or two SA ones (social anxiety), which is another story.
Unfortunately Aspie Village aren’t accepting new registrations at the moment. |

Could you provide a little bit of information about these groups? This is the first time I've ever heard about them. The National Autistic Society run a number of social groups throughout the county aimed specifically high functioning / aspergers people. I don’t have much information about them, on...

Anyone on Wrong Planet attended a NAS social group targeted at aspergers / HF adults? If so it would be great if you could share your experiences, how the groups run, the typical number and types of people who attend, etc. The Nottingham group is of particular relevance to me, but discussion of any ...

I like mountain dew and buy it in the uk from americansoda.co.uk. It was on special offer a few weeks ago, but this now seems to have finished. It’s worth going on their mailing list to receive offer notifications, particularly if you don’t mind buying stuff with a short life code. I think the last ...
