Aspie1968: Everything you said makes sense but we can't get him to stop ... he goes from one person to another, He did have a girl (also an Aspie) say she would go off with him the other day but she had been sick with a cold for a few days and her mother thought it best that she not got out until sh...

Just wish we knew what to do for him. He has been so much better the last week or so, but just in the last couple of days he's been getting quite frustrated. It always starts with a girl or her mother telling him to quit calling and all hell breaks loose. We realize he is having the meltdowns and we...

To all of you - I totally understand what you are saying and it makes sense that as you become adults you should have the rights as anyone else to make your own decisions and do things the way you want. Guess us NT's have a lot to learn, huh? To Starrygrrl - it seems sad to me that you have no conne...

Thanks Louise 18 and Alone. My nephew and I are very close, I love him as if he were my own and he knows that. He is pretty good with me. As you say, we do realize that meltdowns are something that he will live with for the rest of his life, its how he learns to deal with them and recognize them. He...

Not real encouraging words Aspie1968. Seems like there are mixed messages out there. Most seem to think that these meltdowns that he has are extreme and can be controled by behaviorial therapy. Something has to help. I realize his parents also need more training, but no one especially his mother who...

Thanks Aspie1968. Unfortunately, prior to my last post (a few weeks ago), my nephew got a little out of control in the car (after being told by a girl not to call so much), and hit his mom on the arm. He had to be Baker Acted a couple of days after. It was horrible and no one wanted to, but it was t...

Thanks for your response Aspie1968. I value everyones opinion on this site and listen to all advice given. I have read many books on Aspergers (all within the past year) and I am understanding more and more of the difficulties of society on those with Asperger's. My nephew has been better lately and...

Hi Cinder, Thanks for the information. My nephew has been told he has Asperger's and I think he understands to a certain point: however, I think a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist could help him to learn more. Hopefully he will be seeing one soon that can help. You're information is quite informative ...

Thanks everyone for all of your input. To Tracker, I believe what you say could be correct, or that he has just been sheltered for so long that he doesn't know how to deal with his emotions/anger. He has seen many psychiatrist/psychologist through his lifetime, some have helped some haven't. He is o...

My nephew who is 23 has recently turned in his resignation at Publix (employed 2 yrs.) and we'd hope that this would help with the meltdowns he's been having - NOT. He seems to think that everything is to be his way or no way. His parents and I have been very patient with him lately and try to decip...

Yes, Aurura I do believe that a lot of his problems stem from his job at Publix in addition to wanting people to do things with. We are learning more and more everyday what he needs to make his life more peaceful. I think he is going to quit his job, hopefully that will make a big difference.

To Tracker: I am in the process of reading your book and it is very insightful. You are a very smart young man and you should be proud of the person that you are. I would like to ask you a question since I may be a little impatient in getting to this subject in your book - My nephew who is now 23 ha...

Also my nephew has also gained weight within the last few years, but I think it is a lot of the medication. He recently changed meds and his appetite seems to have decreased some.

Sounds like I am reading a blog about my nephew. We are having the same issues with him. He is 23 and has just recently (w/in the past year) began acting up. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that he knows he's an adult but he can't seem to do the same things as the neurotypical kids (non A...
