I love Linux because it is free, and it doesn't crash. I used to use Windows, but it crashed way too often. When I switched to Ubuntu it worked like a dream. I also like Linux because it is much easier to have multiple users on Linux then it is on Windows.

I get weird looks if I try to change the topic of a group of people, but other people seem to be able to change the topic with ease. It is very frustrating ...

I would use Clojure. It is a dialect of Lisp that runs on the Java Virtual Machine. It is much more powerful that Java, and will allow you to program a kick-ass game.
