I have this really bad. I can't motivate myself to do anything and even if I try to start doing something, I just get overwhelmed. If I can get started though, inertia works the other way for me too, I can stay super focused for hours and hours, so that I have to remind myself to eat or go to the ba...

I just wanted to mention that people with HIV can have children who are not infected. A baby born to an infected mother has a 25% chance of becoming infected and with current treatments, the risk is less than 2%. http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/hivaids.html I'm pretty sure th...

Yes. I hate washing my hair. Honestly I'm not a fan of showering in general, and I do think that its a sensory thing. It also is time consuming, and a lot of the time, I can't be bothered. I have long, super thick curls and they stay wet forever. When I was a kid my mom washed my hair in the sink fo...

If I'm not mistaken, Autism is associated with OCD and restrictive behaviors of many kinds so the link makes sense. My case is the opposite, though- I'm gripped with fear not of anorexia, but of recovering from it and gaining a ton of weight. Starvation is basically the only way I'm able to stay no...

People normally think I'm really smart. It surprises me frequently, especially when the person has never discussed an academic subject with me. Maybe I give off a bit of a nerdy vibe? I also don't speak that much, so I guess I keep a lot of my dumb thoughts to myself. :) I wouldn't worry too much ab...

You know what I don't like about the Sally-Anne test? Nobody ever asks WHY the child might say, "in the box!" I've asked a few Autistic kids to do it (who had never done it before), and got the following explanations: ⋅ She'll look in the box, because she can see through the basket, see i...

Is this literal? People should not hit or push you period. You should not do nothing or turn the other cheek if they do, you should tell them not to touch you. If someone keeps touching you when they are asked not to, you should run and tell an authority. If you cannot run, fighting back is appropri...

I don't have a suggestion, but typically I would just search for similar products that are there and charge the average price of what I find.

I use structural analysis a little and do finite element analysis at my job and I'm a mechanical engineer. In fact, once people find out I'm good at that, they ask me to do it quite a bit, because lots of people don't actually like doing the calculation/theory part of it all. Civil engineers probabl...

The other suggestions are good, but I just wanted to add that you could get into a cleaning routine. I schedule 1 hour every week to clean my desk at work, that way it pops us on my calender to remind me and every week I straighten up a little so it doesn't get out of hand. If you do the same thing ...

It could be AS, but maybe she's just difficult. Lots of people NT or otherwise, don't really like change and lots of them just like to argue. Do you have a boss or manager who makes the final call on disagreements? The only advice I have about difficult coworkers is to avoid them as much as possible...

Thanks for replying, My ideal relationship would definitely involve love. I was in love once, so I know that it's possible for me to feel strongly for someone. In retrospect, I wonder if I was happy in that relationship, because it was long distance and we could only see each other once a week, so i...

Ok so, like I wrote in my introduction post, I'm not formally diagnosed with aspergers, but I definitely have some traits. It's not normally that obvious (well at least I like to think that its not) unless I am in a relationship, and then I seem to have all kinds of difficulties. It's not hard for m...

So this is how I ended up here - Recently I was in a bit of a depression. My friends seemed to all be pulling away, even though they wouldn't say that anything was wrong. My boyfriend thinks I'm unaffectionate and that I don't think before I speak or think about how my actions will make him feel - b...
