Everyone is different. For example, my boyfriend has been diagnosed for over ten years. He can keep eye contact and is very social (he has LOTS of friends). He does, however, get very anxious in social situations. Also, I agree with the routine, thing. He tends to make lists. This helps him greatly....

I've come to figure that out, haha! SPECIFICS. Got it. That book I was talking about is AMAZING. It's funny how something small like that can make all the difference. He agrees as well. He even thanked me for making the effort and says he can tell a difference because I wait to pay attention to how ...

that's because he is worth it.
and because i believe that, since he has to be "on" all the time
when communicating with people, it is much easier for me
(and less stress for him) if i learn to speak "Aspie" than for
him to speak "NT"
and thank you for the good luck wishes!! ! |

I don't know, but I'm an NT and that was the first thing that my bf told me. and... I didn't really believe him at first either. He's very popular and has lots of friends. He is also very comfortable in social situations. I was glad he told me right away, though. There have been some situations late...

hey... Well, everything is far from perfect, but it DID get better! I read the "22 things you should know" book that someone suggested and it made a world of difference. He also read it and REALLY likes it. It helped A LOT. The phone call situation is pretty much ok, too. Now if I want him to call, I...

Thank you everyone! I don't know why we both didn't think of the skype idea sooner! That's brilliant. I am also looking into the books as well. I can't remember who commented something about it being unilateral instead of taking us both to work on it? I think you may have misconstrued it as he is wo...

Fnord: 2. that's the reason that I am here, I need help in finding out where I am going wrong with communicating to him. In other words, I wish there was an NT-->Aspie translator. :) AsteroidNap : YES... He is trying as well. I know it is difficult for him too. I DO give him much more leeway than an...

mine says that I am generous and sweet and treat him wondefully... and that he is happy when spending time with me, going out, and having deep discussions about nuclear science. He told me the same thing, that he can't feel "love" like that. I told him that IS love.

This is quite long, I apologize, but I REALLY need help! I just joined this site because I am seriously confused. I've read some of the "being in love" with an aspie type of discussions. I'm an NT and just don't know what to do anymore. I'm completely enamored with an aspie man. He says he loves me ...
