Wow, great responses!! I'm sorry, we've been away on vacation for a week. I'm sorry I was not very specific in my post. He was not grounded for the art camp incident. He was grounded for fighting with his brother at home. I respect your post immensely and I assure you, I do try to be supportive of h...

I'm not sure how old you are, but there are two good books. One is Geeks, Freaks, and Aspergers or something like that. The author's last name is Jackson I think. The other one is something like Aspergers and the Universe. They are both by young men with Aspergers. I found them to be very informatio...

Wow! That was an incredible view into the life of an Aspie. I'm not sure I understood all of it, but I definitely saw my son in it as well. Thank you for writing it. I'm going to print it off and save it for one of his bad days. It just seems like he feels better when he realizes he isn't the only o...

I am so sorry to hear about this. I am going through a similar problem right now. My son is 12 and he had such a terrible time this last year (6th grade). The school refused to believe that he had a true problem and wasn't just being noncompliant. We fought tooth and nail all year to get him help. T...

Try http://www.wrightslaw.org for a great site for advocacy! Pete Wright has lots of legal advice for parents there. They hold seminars all over the country. There is going to be one here in Austin in August. The best way to become an advocate is to do lots of research on the net. Also, look into fo...

Luke Jackson's "Freaks, Geeks,.... " is an awesome book!! ! It was the one that helped me be sure that my son was an Aspie. There is another one about Asperger's and the Universe - also by a young man. It was good too. My son is on Adderall and Paxil. The Paxil is the only thing that helps with his ...

I am so glad to see this post! My son is going to be a 7th grader next year. I'm considering homewchooling him. He had a terrible year last year b/c the school wasn't willing to accept that he is Aspie. They just felt like he was choosing to be difficult and noncompliant. In Dec. right before Christ...

| Hey everyone, My name is Teri. I'm the mom of a 12 yr old son who we think is an aspie. We are in the process of getting him evaluated, but I've done a ton of research and assure you he has Aspergers. Right now he carries a dx of ADHD, dyslexia, OCD, and anxiety disorder. | Thank you all so much for sharing your thoughts with me. :) My 12 yr old son likes to talk to me about black holes, ending the war, robotics, etc.... , but he never shares with me how he feels. When I ask him a question about how he feels he just shrugs. I too wouldn't change my son for the world, h... |

I hope I don't offend anyone by responding to this. I am the mom of a 12 yr old who we (and his psychiatrist) are sure is an Aspie. As for understanding, obviously those of us who are not Aspies can't fathom what it feels like or how difficult it is. However, I guarantee you that I have worked reall...

I agree with everyone else, I would definitely look for a new DR. if I was you. We are having a similar problem at my son's school. When they did his Eval., they said he had all the behavioral characteristics of Asperger, but that his speech was too high. (He understood the basic idioms they gave hi...
