Hi. I'm Karin, female, and 24. I'm new to the forum (obviously) and will be soon going in for my "official" diagnosis session. This has definitely made me nervous, so any advice about that would be much appreciated too. Welcome to WP! :) Good luck with diagnostic sessions, just be yourself I guess ;)

I'm not a parent, yet, nor in a relationship (but I would love to start a family in the future), but I've been having these thoughts in my head: What if my children has what I have (Autism) and how should I prepare for that (since he or she will have a higher chance through genetics, of which I mos...

This stuff sounds scary. I have to take 20mg each day. I'm not sure I want to do it. I wish I could be sure it would work but I can't. What if I tried it for two days and didn't like it. Would I still have side effects if I stopped taking it. Don't worry, side effects will stop after you stop takin...

What's it like to take Prozac for the first time? I finally picked up the prescription for my mild (moderate to my therapist) OCD and it's just been sitting on the counter. I'm scared to take it. I don't want to feel spacey or anything like that? Have you ever taken Prozac(I have the generic versio...

I think a therapy would help more than an internet forum in social skills. That way you have practice in speaking with a real person ;)

Right. How would a partner possessing those skills mean he isn't still lacking in them? Curious. I think he means that the NT partner will just handle that stuff for him. I didn't seek out my partners for that purpose, but that did end up happening in most of my relationships. Yes. That and the fac...

I want to die. I hate people. I hate people. I hate people. I'm through with life on earth as a person. I'm just afraid to kill myself cause I'm pretty sure it hurts. Please don't do it. I know it must be peaty dark place for you right now, I've been there. But it can be better. You need profession...

For years, I have been suspecting having Aspergers syndrome but hasn't been diagnosed. One of the reasons is that diagnosis most likely costs money and is unlikely to be covered by insurance. But there's another reason why I'll think twice even if I do find a free diagnostic option. Too many people...

Hiya. I'm Meredith. I'm thirty-two, I live in Indiana, and I have my first appointment with an Asperger's psychologist tomorrow. There's so much I could go into -- the alcoholism, the bizarre relationships and hookups, the desperate need to find someone to relate to (see above!). But for now, I kno...

I'm sorry to hear this. This worries me too. I have a hard time getting too close to people (read: intimate relationships) sometimes because I deeply fear the death of the person I'm involved with. It's something I'm working on. Wow, can I relate! I love animals, but it hurt so much when my rats di...

Here is the paper from 2010 LINK , LINK It is the actual theory. I see no mentions about "worsening" and "devastating". The previous one was some initial hypothesis and have some unfortunate statements. And remember it's focused more on the "severe" end of the spectrum. And they've actually cited wo...

I want to read the paper in detail, but also think about it terms of theories of consciousness., from Whitehead to Penrose and Hameroff. It seems to me they are too much on the edges of science for most scientists to be comfortable with them. Her criticism look like overreaction for me and lack of ...

I do not subscribe to the intense world hypothesis of autism, but I do think that it has some interesting points that should be further investigated, e.g. hypersensitivity. One thing that annoyed me was the part in the introduction saying that autism was a progressively worsening condition. That is...
